Freezer question

This is a picture of the door to my freezer. It is a Dometic model DM2663RBX. My question is what is the thing on the left side of the door intended to be used for?

I don't have an ice maker and nothing that I normally keep in my freezer fits except for a pack of hotdogs and I really don't think that's what they had in mind.

It fits a pop can really well and the lip at the bottom holds them in place very nicely but I'm not doing that.

I really wish it was in the fridge section because it holds the pop cans so well but I don't see any way of relocating it. Maybe some frozen juice concentrate but I don't use those, so far it's just wasted space. Does anyone that has this have any ideas or suggestions or is it going to be my fancy frozen hotdog holder? Thanks.

You can find it on ebay: Dometic Freezer Shelf

Or google part number 2932577014. YMMV so check your manual for exact part number and fit. Also your current tray may have a part number etched on it.

I like the idea of a 2nd tray. Where did you buy it from?

The photo with the rootbeer cans was good but.. Try frozen concentrated orange/apple/et-al juice instead of soda

I've never liked the idea of frozen concentrate while camping because after I make it then I have to create a spot in the fridge to store it. I'd rather just buy it already to drink and have a spot in the fridge from the beginning.

I really do like how it fits pop cans though and really wish I could put it in the fridge. If I move it then I'll end up with a completely useless spot in the freezer. At least now I can put something in there. I like the idea of quick chilling the soda but my luck I'd forget it was there and end up with a mess similar to what happens when a soda can comes in to contact with the fins in the fridge which brings me back to why they didn't put a really cool pop can holder like this in the fridge and not the freezer?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I just figured I was missing out on some really amazing use for it but if frozen concentrate was it's intended use then I will just find something else to stuff in there.

Tripalot, I tried the ground beef tube but they are too wide :(, that would have been great because I usually carry 3-4 of those on longer trips.

It looks like there should be another shelf to fit on the slide things above the other shelf. Would 1 lb. tubes of ground beef fit or small packages of frozen veggies? We use the other left side thing for cans of juice concentrate.
