Girls RV camping night out (overnight)

It is my wife's turn to host a group of ladies for their book club and they decided to go camping this Friday night. What they typically do at their book club meeting is share dishes, appetizers, wines, on top of their book discussion.

The group consists of 7 ladies, so our Jayco 32 BHDS will be perfect for their night out.

Keep in mind there are no RVers or campers in the group, but they come from all professions and backgrounds and are strong willed, goal oriented, problem solvers.

My question is or my only doubt is the ability to start a campfire. Not a charcoal grill fire, but a wood fire for smores or simply to hang out.

I am not worried at all and know they will have a great time.

Oh... I will set up the Jayco by the time they get out of work.

Based on your description of this women's group I wouldn't provide any assistance at all and you will see just how strong their will and problem skills are.

Start a fire? Anyway just ask that they extinguish the fire before going to sleep.

Very husbandly like of you to set up the trailer for your wife and her book club:).

Sometimes I have to return to the city and don't return until the evening. When I've time I set up the fire pit for the man beforehand: crumpled newspaper, interspersed with dried pine cones, charcoal briquets, followed by layers of progressively larger wood. I know he appreciates the effort I make and is content knowing the kiddos can put a fire together if I dinna.

Let 'em dream about us needing their help to do what we've been doing forever (do they REALLY think ancient woman waited for ancient man to come home to light the fire) here on the internet and puff out their chests a bit... ๐Ÿ™‚

Make sure there is a corkscrew in the RV and they'll be fine.

Sometimes we used fireplace logs. They do burn more quickly. Bet you can find them a Youtube video on how to build a campfire. The trick is to teepee the logs once you get it started so it has air to fuel the flame.

The best fire starters I use is this eigth sticks to a box called STRIKE-A-FIRE... This along with a couple of fire starter long propane lighter is all you need.

These are very handy to have around... Even when the wood is damp...

COLEMAN also package the same STRIKE-A-FIRE sticks under their brand name in the camping section of WALMART etc...

I buy a box of 48 all the time from AMAZON or pick up a box of 48 at WALMART or LOWES and then move them to my used boxes for carrying them when camping.

Do you have some scrap 2X4s laying around? Use a hand axe to split them into kindling and then stack them tee-pee style over one of those fire starter bricks. Then stand of some fire wood around that. Light the fire started brick with a stick lighter. Add wood as necessary.

Agree to stipulate rules for the toilet - no feminine products! Seriously - people who never camped may not realize. And guess who would have to fix it?

Hope the have fun.

The next time you and your wife go camping, let her hook up the camper, pack everything in it, drive to campgrounds, set up the camper, build a fire, while you are drinking a beer. Your problems are over for the next girls night out.

I think that a group of strong-willed, goal oriented, problem solvers will have a great experience regardless. Funny thing: women don't really need men to figure things out. It may seem that way, but really, they are just humoring you... Remove the man from the equation and they can do anything - of course, if they don't like doing it, they will be sure to plead assistance from a man and save themselves the headache. :B

As for the firelogs, regular Duraflames, etc., put out off-chemicals. They are not considered safe for cooking. However, there are cooking safe firelogs

I think most will agree a woman can start a campfire. (LOL)
