Another member suggested a new forum section with new products but it doesn't look like it will be feasible. So I thought I would post this here under General RVing Issues. If enough people post (even if you have mentioned it before in another post) we can keep it near the top?

Do you have a handy hint, a new product or an old product that makes your RVing or Camping much better?

(Sorry, no commercial advertising allowed)

I'll start:

Someone in the Camping Van posted a reference to using a Super-Chamois to wipe down their shower. I have been using an icky old thick sponge and I like the chamois idea so much more.

Now I want to hear what works for you

Try sprinkling baking soda inside, then stuffing the smelly shoes with newspaper. The baking soda absorbs the odors, while the newspaper absorbs both odor and dampness. Whenever possible let the shoes sit out in natural sunlight. It's a home remedy we learned while our boys were growing up in youth league and high school soccer programs, as well as our camping experiences.

Been doing this since beginning camping in a tent 30 years ago. Continued doing it through the pop-up and since upgrading to TT 9 years ago. Never had a creepy crawly in there yet.

Maybe I should bottle DH's shoe odor as a bug repellent.

Recently made a tile mosaic on a piece of 1/2" plywood sized to the top of the tote. Tote color complements the mosaic; now tote does double duty as shoe storage and small coffee table. Mosaic is removable while traveling.

I wired a piece of wire mesh under the step of our 5th wheel. It doesn't keep the stairs from closing, but makes a nice shelf for keeping shoes, bug spray etc. handy but off the ground. Easy and cheap!

Dollar Tree has Baby Diaper Bags. A box of 100 for a dollar. They are in the Baby Item Area. They are great for doggie bags (small dogs please).

A reader asked that I post my DIY netbook cupholder mount on this thread too.

Grey PVC and glue from Home Depot. Cut down plastic cutting board from Target. Velcro wrap to snug fit. PVC flange is screwed to cutting board.

When you mentioned over door hooks,that rang a bell......... We have a over the door bath towel holder that hold 3-4 towels on back of bathroom door

This is a great forum. My hint, DH bolted a paper towel holder to 2 over-the-door hooks. We can use it on our bathroom door without drilling holes. Of course, the stores carry over-the-cabinet paper towel holders, but I've never seen anything for over the door.

We carry a business card with our emergency contact info and our license plate numbers. We keep this near our DL and insurance cards.
