Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Another member suggested a new forum section with new products but it doesn't look like it will be feasible. So I thought I would post this here under General RVing Issues. If enough people post (even if you have mentioned it before in another post) we can keep it near the top?

Do you have a handy hint, a new product or an old product that makes your RVing or Camping much better?

(Sorry, no commercial advertising allowed)

I'll start:

Someone in the Camping Van posted a reference to using a Super-Chamois to wipe down their shower. I have been using an icky old thick sponge and I like the chamois idea so much more.

Now I want to hear what works for you

The only time I ever lost feeling in my arms and legs was when I was 19 and a buddy and I were "Scooping the Loop" and drinking MD 20/20. Think there was added effect from something we smoked but it was the last time I drank that stuff. Moved up to a higher quality wine like Strawberry Hill

The things that come to those that wait will be the junky stuff left by those that got there 1st.

Maybe I'm a different kind of people. I use the same stainless steel coffee mug for my morning coffee, my lunchtime water, and my evening wine. If I wore dentures like my DW I would probably soak them in the same cup. :B

On the up side, the rangers have no idea what beverage I am consuming.

Kathy, thank you for telling us about those stemware holders. Think I will have to do that. I have a glass doored cabinet in the Beaver that is lit and it would be perfect to have stemware in that holder in it. Like the gentleman suggested, I think I'll try to make my own.

My neice is a wine specialist and buyer for a big, elite shop and I had mentioned to her that I'd read where using plastic or metal wine glasses/stemware could change the taste of the wine. She said it was true, but they have some that are like a plastic yet specially made not to offset the taste of the wine. I bet they cost a fortune, but I bet I'll be getting some from her shortly.

Don, be sure to share that Ripple with the neighboring RVers. I'd share mine.

Wow, those everstill racks are really clever.

As far as stainless steel vessels, IMHO, the wine will taste very different from metal v. glass (and not in a good way.)

However, delighted to note so much interest in wine glasses. Y'all are my kind of people.

Happy Camping!

Has anyone tried the Presto-Fit Step Hugger carpets? I don't know how to put a picture in the post, but here is a link. http://www.prestofit.com/DecorianIndoorSubPages/StepHuggers.html

I have tried to find reviews online, but I can't seem to find any and a search of the forums didn't help. Normally I can find info like that, but something is wrong with my search skills today. :@

wouldnt that quickly transfer the heat from your hand to the wine and bruise the wine?

There is a dent in your glass.

Yes, it would warm the wine, if you filled it like a beer glass. If, however, you fill it below the thumb 'dent', then you would not warm your wine. The picture of the product shows a 'full' glass of wine.

The stainless wine glasses I saw this weekend had stems just like a regular wine glass...so it seems there are a couple of varieties to choose from.

I just got my husband to hang 2 of these 6-glass stemware holders. They are great! Glasses don't even rattle while driving.

Those are nice and would also be simple to make. Heck, you could even just drill 4 holes per stemware into the underside of your cabinets and then add thin bundgee cord to create your own holders without the extra piece of wood.
