😞 I can't believe how many topics that have been closed recently! :S Is it so difficult for people to refrain from making rude and unwanted comments.
It makes me feel as though it's not worth clicking on to certain threads now!
This used to be filled with helpful outstanding people when I first joined. Come on people let's keep it respectful and clean before it becomes another that goes by the wayside! :C Irover

That is so true - and who the moderator is. There's one on here who will delete me for the slightest infraction, yet leave nearly identical posts on.

The kind of reply I really tire of is this:

OP: "Do I need a separate subscription for my XM radios?"
Reply: " I don't use XM, I use Pandora."

OR....

OP: "I want HD. What dish do I need"
Reply: "We never watch TV.. too much to do."

Those replies are NEVER deleted.

OTOH, I do appreciate the mods deleting side arguments and fights breaking out about things which have nothing to do with the question.

When someone makes a rude comment and it is deleted, it is the policy of RV net to delete the posts referring to it.

A moderator took me off 3 areas because he/she didn't like the way I wrote. Not bad taste nor vulgar, profane etc. he just didn't like my usage style.

His forums are also now getting two/three posts per day rather than the 10/12 they were getting.

It's biologically impossible for women to have "The Napoleon Complex". This due to the well-know Scientific Fact that the reason women are generally "shorter" than men is because Mother Nature wants to insure that men will have to bow down just to talk to us.

The bulk of the problem lies with a lot of people who can't seem to refrain from putting their 2 cents in, where it's absolutely worthless, unnecessary and unwelcome. Most closed threads anywhere, all we see now are what's left after moderators have had to delete and edit over and over again because people can't contain themselves. Looking at it, when the fixing is done, the discussion might look pretty tame, but that doesn't means that that's where it was when closure was necessary.

Just a note to say that Dianne has been one of the more fair-minded and consistent of all the mods here over the years. That isn't to say that she hasn't given over to fits of pique on occasion. 🙂 I can speak with a modest degree of experience. Though my sign-in belies it, I've been around here for about 12 years. Except for the occasional lurk I've been gone for the last 6 because frankly, I tired of the heavy-handed moderation and mind-numbing repetition. Thanks for what you do Dianne.

I have seen many times over the years many posts closed for one reason or the other but in saying that I have seen many left open and I wondered why they haven't been closed. I have even asked the moderators this and they still remained open. So I think it is all based on the side of the bed thing or who you are thing as to why it gets closed and others not. heck back in the day admin would kick you off the forum for saying something rude, and with out warning.So all in all things have mellowed out a lot.
