Thought I'd start a new topic for Gate Guards to use for comments. Like the moderator suggested-keep technical stuff, recipes, mechanical, etc. where they belong. Lets hear from everyone sucking down that caliche dust.

It pays to do some due diligence on these gate guard companies. There is a huge demand in the Texas oil fields right now from maids to geologists and new companies are popping up all over.

J&G is hitting every RV forum as well as workcamper news or whatever it is for contractors.

Might want to check further here.....

Sittin' on a Forest Oil gate way out west just outside of Iraan,TX. Over an inch of rain today which is unusual (high desert of the Edwards Plateau),struggled to reach 42 degrees, wind howling out of the north at 20 and 4" of snow just west of us. It is still raining with big ol' wet snowflakes....

Check out the Gate Guard forum in my sig line. Lots of good activity and info there for gate guards new and old.

Well I think the get together is in line with the gate jobs, just wish we were a little closer so I could attend. It lets other people monitoring this gate guards topic that there is more than the boring gate jobs, sorry.
On another note how many of us got rain last night. We had a down pour at midnight that lasted about 2 minutes then no more rain.

The weather guesser said around a 1/4 inch. Hmmm-we have 4-6 inches of standing water around the motorhome and we had at least two bands go through during the night. They each lasted well over 30 minutes with howling wind, lightning and a downpour.

Same thing here, only it was around 2:30. One small thunderstorm and that was it, so very little standing water this morning. Not the gooey mess we normally have with a rain storm.

Well, personally I believe the get together is on topic. We discuss mostly on gate activities, but finding things to keep us occupied in the down time is part of it. Read my blog at www.workampingstories.blogspot.com. My last post is titled Sanity and deals with this issue.
As always, I defer to the moderator and will respect his/her wishes.

Moderator note....folks please don't turn this topic into personal message board. Use the PM feature to chat.

Thank you

A minor policy violation, no doubt, none the less, it provides the many that are following this thread, with invaluable insight about the actual functioning of the gates, that most here follow the thread to learn.
Thanks to the moderator team, and thanks to the posters. We have enjoyed even the idle personal chit chat.

Betsy or I checked in every one of them. That was an inbound count and they all had to leave, so double that amount for actual traffic through the gate since 10/06. We are a day time 6-6 gate mostly Mon thru Sat, which adds to the fun. We don't really think we are that busy, is why when I started doing the paper work today, I was surprised.

Interesting statistic today.....the 11,000th vehicle just passed through our gate, which opened on 10/6/11.
