Jensen DVD player

Have a 5th wheel with a Jensen DVD player causing me lots of frustration. When playing a DVD, it will freeze/stall, pushing the forward, reverse button will not work. The DVD has to be ejected and reinserted. I keep the DVD on fast forward, past the point of it sticking, to watch the DVD. I initially thought it was the DVD disk. I played the DVD in my home and there was no problem. Has anyone experienced this problem with the Jensen DVD equipment and if so, how did you fix the problem? I've been informed Jensen DVD/stereo systems are bottom of the list and should consider replacing it.

I don't know what year or features your system has and what outputs you need from the disc player. I needed to replace an older DVD player, so I went to Best Buy and purchased a BluRay player with a was brick, discarded the wall brick and went with a 12volt cable. The player I bought has only one HDMI output and so I bought a Splitter and cable for the rear TV. Often the DGKs are in back and want to watch the same thing we have playing up from, ergo the splitter and cable. There is a greater selection of players that use 120 volt but the simple one works great for us.

If you replace your Jensen with an auto unit that only has one or two speaker outputs, the signal can be split again using a speaker selector switch. There are a lot of them out there and Niles is one brand known to make a quality switch.

If you change out the head unit, watch your ohms.

If you only watch DVD's while plugged into AC power, then you can find a very inexpensive replacement DVD player for under $25 or Blueray for under $50. A $1 RCA to 3.5mm audio cable will allow you to pipe the sound to the current stereo. If you really want the integrated experience like you have now, then there are automotive grade head units that offer AM/FM tuners as well as DVD playback.

I don't think you can get an option for 3 different speaker locations with the auto unit. Kind of a conundrum. While we don't listen to the outside speakers very often there are times when we do. We also like to have the bedroom speakers on as well. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too:) Fortunately our Jensen is still working fine after two seasons.

when mine dies I am going to replace the entire unit with a dvd/blu-ray capable car unit. Being 12v is important to me and replacing the entire 'deck' IMO is a good option.

How does one hook up a BR player to a Jensen? They only have one HDMI output on the back and no HDMI input. If you just use the RCA cables then you're not getting HD.

Mine does the same thing. I advised my dealer as I am still under warranty.

Mine did the same thing. Take it out and see if all packing tape was removed. I put all my music on iPod so no longer use the CD player anyway.

Very good advice. They've gotten so cheap now, no reason not too. I got a nice small LG Blue Ray last Christmas for the trailer for around $70. Probably cheaper now.

Jensen is generally considered junk. Get a Samsung, Sony, etc. Lots of good DVD players out there.
