I have diesel soot problem on the back of my motorhome and trailer that I need to clean. Looking for a good cleaning product to do the job.

Ever try Dawn Dishwashing liquid? If it removes oil spillage from feathery baby ducks, I think it would work for diesel soot on an RV too. Dawn is a grease cutter. I know it works very well cleaning up other types of petroleum problems and animal fat (cooking oil) problems.

Just Remember that Dishwashing soap will also remove the wax. I assume this is true with Dawn.

Any cleaning product with ammonia will do a good job with diesel soot.

Thanks for all the response. I used Simple Green and it worked well.

Reminds me of a friends VW New Beetle, TDI, he had a sticker made "diesel soot....the badge of honor". He bought the TDI as it sounded more like the air cooled VW

WD-40. Followed by dishwashing soap and a good rinse.

I use Mean Green or similar product. Buy it by the gallon at Family Dollar and use it as a prewash. I wet the back of the MH and lower sides near the back and they spray followed by a power wash. Works great for me.

I also use it as a prewash bug remover for the front.

I've found that something like Turtle Wax does a good job of removing soot and it won't harm the finish like a solvent might.
