Saw this going down the road and just had to take a pic.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Notice how he had the load just ahead of the axles!

I just checked the weight on my E-450 based van with a 14,500 GVWR. The front axle is only 3,300 pounds while the back one is 6,600. I am just wondering if there is to little weight on the front axle?

There where 6 passengers and one 450 pound wheelchair.

I guess I will have to be really careful if I ever need to drive it in the snow, as there is so little weight on the front axle, compared to the overall GVW?

Thanks in advance. . .

Fred.

You're fine. Ford says you should have 32% minimum on the front axle, and you are barely there. Of course... you could solve the lightweight front end issue by Installing a Buckstop bumper ๐Ÿ™‚

That brought a smile to me! Surprised I have never seen someone doing that when dead-heading. Cute.

It is better to have more weight in front of the axles, than this test done by Ford where they put 400 pounds more weight behind the axles than in front of it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byuUsM6cwB0

This demo video shows how the Ford built in braking system detects sway, and puts on the brakes automatically when there is sway, and that can be induced easy when descending a hill.

Nice!
There's a young guy (high school age) that drives an old but nice flat bed Ford flat bed truck that does the same thing.
