New RV film coming out

I did a search, but didn't find anything. Moderator, if someone else has already posted on this, please delete it.

I just discovered that a new feature length film/documentary on full-time RVing is going to come out in Fall of next year. More info on the film can be found here: http://openroadrvnomads.com/

I have really enjoyed watching Less Junk, More Journey, and RV Love, and have just started watching Mortons on the Move. I am looking forward to this film and wonder where it will be released; via internet, some TV deal, or in the theaters. Has anyone else heard about this?

Lots more people may be buying them, but statistics prove that 9 million registered RV's has been a constant number in the US for a long time, including now. Those numbers come straight from the industry groups such as RVIA. Despite what the industry groups publish the generation behind the boomers, millennials, Xers, etc, are not interested in RV's in the numbers they claim. I guess by coming out with constant reports and articles claiming so, the RV industry groups think that will sway them into it or something. Add to that the current RV boom is one spike in fuel costs, or an economic downturn away from going bust.

As far as new campgrounds you will never see many springing up no matter what the demand. They are a terrible use of real estate from a financial perspective, especially in states where they can only be operated seasonally. The cost to develop one is hard to justify unless its in some type of resort area and not many full timers / retired persons are going to be able to afford the site prices. Even expanding, and most times upgrading, an existing campground comes with a whole host of issues from zoning issues, local resident not in my backyard attitudes , environmental regs and requirements, etc.

I think that the "movie" will more than likely cause some trendy people who want to go with the crowd and be cool to go into full-time LV'ing but hopefully they will get tired of it fast and go on to the next new trend. BUT... I can fully see how the appeal of not having a mortgage andtaxes, and upkeep of a sticks and bricks could be appealling. I looked at a 40ft 3 slide park model for only 40,000. That beats the heck out of an average 250,000.00 house.... The issue these days is that younger folks aren't buying into the "idea" of the house with the white picket fence anymore and realize life is a lot more than the society and social ideals of what you should do at various stages in your life

FWIW, notice in my post above I did not use the term "campground". That was on purpose.

Sometimes one gets out to scenic places to drycamp - not campgrounds per se - and spots are taken up by RV's that appear to be LV's instead ... that have been there for awhile.

Why would one need a campground to enjoy camping? Is there confusion between camping and attending an amusement park?

We have been camping over 55 years, in 42 US states, Mexico and Canada. Probably have not used more than two dozen different campgrounds. Camping is a state of mind.

I understand folks who sell, or rent out, or otherwise quit using - their previous sticks and bricks home and then buy a LV (Living Vehicle) to then live in for several years. The number of folks who do this probably does not overload the available good camping locations.

The additional folks who early-on opt to live in a LV and occupy the available good camping spots for long periods are what overload the system for folks who want to use vehicles purely for recreational camping purposes.

Same feelings - we have been traveling (In RV or Van or tent) for over twenty-five years, and working on the road. So, we see the compacting happening first hand. Larger RV's, more RV's, and as that happens, higher fees, but no necessarily better services.

Was a time when no one made reservations, and everyone got a nice site just driving into a CG. Now, sites gone in a flash first date of reserving, and even the more remote sites with no services are beginning to fill quicker now.
