Oh my, getting old

I have traveled with various motor homes from the West to the East, Alaska, and the far East of Canada,
I Loved every minute of it and my wife also.
But now, my age and my wife's disabilities preclude me from this life style. 81 Yr. old.
My oh my, how I hate to realize, that its at and end.
From when we were married at 21 yr. old, tents to now.
Gotta let go my beautiful Winny Journey.
I almost cry, such it was my longing for a diesel pusher, and it has served me well for 12 years.
I know all has to come to an end sometime, but tears in my eyes as it has come to me.
Good luck and happy travels to you all. I know I had mine.

Can't really imagine how sad this must make you feel although I do have an inkling. I'm 68 and in good health but thoughts have crossed my mind how this must some day come to an end.

May the Good Lord bless and keep you.

RCtime wishing the best to you two. Reminds me of a time 3 or so years ago, wife and I were on a 4 day snowmobile trip in January in Yellowstone National Park we met a couple at rest stop snowmobiling and he was 82 and she was 79. They said they came snowmobiling every year there. We had a nice chat and took pictures of them. Will never forget that encounter.
Good luck and best wishes to you.

Just having similar thoughts myself. I am not as old but being a diabetic for 23 years now has started to take its toll. We sold the DP last fall and went to a larger TT where we hope to do more destination camping. We spent a month in FL this year but wish it was 2-3 months. We should all learn to enjoy what we have any given day as we do not have a promise for tomorrow. Be well.

WAY TO GO X2!!!!!!

I'm four score minus 8 years old and thought I was beginning to get a bit "up there" for RV'ing ... but thanks to your comments above I'm feeling my Second Wind and now feel only around three score again. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Know just how you feel. Age caught up to us well before we planned for it to - started summer before last. I am 74 and my wife is 70.

This is the first winter we have been someplace cold in 12 years.
Sure lucky we bought a house two and a half years ago. Didn't plan to use it for more than a month or so in the spring and a couple of months in the fall but had to spend all last summer and the summer before last in it. Did south to AZ for last winter and then spent all summer here and stayed for the winter.
Had a ball though for those 11 years of full timing and one year of snow birding.

I sympathize with you. DH & I are much younger than you *58* but we had to make the difficult decision to permanently park the TT and sell the truck last year, due to his poor health. It was very painful and we have really missed being able to travel and camp in different places. But I have to say, it has been much, MUCH easier on him to just toss clothes, meds, and oxygen in the Prius and drive 2 hours to the mountains where our TT is parked. We pull in, hook up the water and electricity, and voila! We're camping. It's so much easier on him that we are actually camping MORE than we were before.

Maybe you can do something similar. No matter. However it turns out, I hope you have many more years with your bride.

I feel your pain, but we are all kind of in the same boat here. Many will have to make painful decisions. Others will have the decision made for them. I will have considered myself lucky if I am rv'ing at your age. I'm sure it brings a tear to your eyes to have to stop, but maybe it can be a happy tear for all that you have accomplished.

RCtime: Lots of us are facing the same future. Some of us sooner than others.

When my time comes, I hope that I am thankful for what days/years I had. (I am now). I will try not to cry that it is over but rather, smile with the memories.

Good luck to you.

Along similar lines...
We spend the Summer at our cottage, it's been years.
Last year I started installing skid proof steps with hand rails. Put in higher rails on the deck. Better lighting... Sigh.

I can relate. I'm a few years behind you, but starting to have thoughts similar to yours.
It's not easy to remain positive, even though it makes sense to keep trying.
I can begin to see where the phrase came from, "parting is such sweet sorrow".
I only hope that my wife beats me to it, since I can't stand the thought of her being alone.
People love to say that they have no regrets. But, I believe it's because they either might not want to share their regrets, or don't want to bore anybody with their story. Personally, I'm starting to regret having accumulated so much stuff. It's not easy getting rid of it.
Good luck to you, and to everyone facing a similar juncture.

I can relate to all of this.
