You don't need the Honda. The ones complaining about the noise on the Champion are misinformed. They have the same db level at the rated capacity. One could argue the Honda is quieter in eco mode but if you are running the air or any higher power device the Honda will be running full rpms and have the same noise level. I am not sure if the Champion has the "eco" feature or is a fixed rpm generator.

I honestly believe that,at least a few, Honda owners beat up Champions so as to justify their own purchase of a generator that costs more than twice as much as the Champions with little to any noise differential. Having just come back from an event where many different brand generators were running I personally couldn't tell a difference in noise levels between my Champion and the Hondas or Yamahas. I could tell you how much more money was in my money clip. Buy what you like and let others do the same without berating their choices.

Champion 3400 electric/remote start, quiet as the Honda 2k, runs a bunch more including 15k air. Ran it as needed all winter boondocking, no issues. Just leave it in the truck bed to solve the problem of weight.

Someone mentioned the 3100 for under $600, but I doubt it will run a 15k AC.

Install a hard start kit on the A/C.

Wait, I do have a complaint. The oil drain path does not allow for a neat oil change.

Pretty common on all generators with exterior plastic covers.

Anyone ever try a Form-A-FunnelForm-A-Funnel ?

Automatically saying that Champion generators are loud is like saying that all Ford products spontaneously burst into flames because you heard that happened to a Pinto thirty years ago. There are many models of Hondas, Yamahas, and Champions.

Obviously you haven't actually heard a Champion INVERTER generator and are assuming it's loud like their open frame contractor-style generators.
You're incorrect.

As an owner of a Honda 2000EU unit; they are not nearly as quiet as many owners seem to assume either. I'd be surprised if you could get one in the OP's price range and they won't run a rooftop A/C unless you put a lot of effort into doing that.
From a quick look at the manufacturer's site they both spec 53 dbas for the low end of their 2000W units, Champion does not seem to spec full power which is the more important specification to most people. It's very hard to tell just by standing beside one, but the similar noise ratings is consistent with my experience.

The Honda's do start real easy, and they are a bit quieter than my old no name knockoff 2200 Watt unit which could run my A/C (when not bulk charging the battery) but if I was to do it again for quiet I would get a Yamaha 2000 Watt unit.

OK..lets cut the confusion .. the NEW Champ 3400 is the upgraded 3100 inverter model
not the original $400 open frame 3500/4000 (which was still a good generator)

the list price is right around the $1000 mark give or take less than $100 depending on the vendor involved

I got a "lazy mans drain kit" from SuperGen Products
threaded nipple with drain hose and end plug
works perfect for draining the oil from my New Champ inverter genny
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !
