Park Model /RVFlood Insurance

We have a Kropf Park Model rv in Western NY. We are very near a stream. All of this wet weather has us concerned about flood damage. The insurance company who insures our unit doesn't cover or carry flood damage/insurance,

Others in our camp with trailers/5th wheels have the same concern.

With all the recent wet weather, what options do rv/park model owners have in purchasing flood insurance for their unit?

You have to be careful when your policy says flood is covered. A lot of policies that cover FLOOD only cover flood from things like damaged pipes water heaters or sump pumps. Flood coverage from things like rivers are usually from a government insurance plan.

Your Park Model is a trailer and supposed to be movable. If you complain it is not movable and a stationary structure then you can be taxed is if you had a home on your property instead of a trailer.

It can be insured for flood as a mobile home under a flood, policy but must meet certain requirements.+ check with your agent.

I have comprehensive coverage. It includes everything you mentioned except floods.

Try a different insurance company...

Here's one that spells it out:

What does RV insurance cover?

"Comprehensive"

"Also known as 'other than collision,' this coverage can help pay for non-collision damage to your RV. This includes damage from vandalism, theft, failing objects, fire, storms, floods and certain other natural disasters." (emphasis added)

We had a one year old 40 foot travel trailer on our lot in Key Largo and I had it insured with Progressive Insurance. It was insured for my purchase price for as long as I owned it.
One year after we had it Hurricane Irma sent a five foot surge of salt water through it and naturally totaled it. I had a check for the
full purchase price several weeks later.

I now have a replacement trailer there with the same coverage (the best money I have ever spent in my life! )

You might want to check with Progressive

You can't even buy good flood insurance for a house. Don't be stupid and park your AreVee in a flood plain.

Good luck.

I suspect that since it is a trailer, the insurance companies will say you should move it if it may flood.

Thanks. But Park models with a fixed wooden deck and an aluminum awning (plus the toungue is removed) is not easily moved. We are definately in a flood plain. I will investigate further on our options.

Further, I've studied flood and wild fire issues. When private insurers won't cover you or stop covering you, it's serious and time to move.

What private insurers will not cover might be available from your state government such as our California Fair Plan.
