OK, thanks all.....
I think I now understand the tire rating & door sticker for rear rating etc. then scale the rig to get the exact weight, pin weight & calculate the max pin weight.
Not sure what to think of the truck GVWR.
Using the GVWR that gives you 1460#/1480# range to load in the truck, that is less than 3/4 ton. I think I can get that much weight in the average car with 5 or 6 people & the trunk loaded with groceries from the store or suit cases for vacation....

GVWR is just a number!!! Get it licensed for 10k as it most likely is and head down the road.
Why have a RAWR and NOT be able to load to it??? Perfect example is my 15 DRW with 9,750# RAWR. Now add that number to my UNLOADED front axle weight of 5,250#, HMMMMMMMM 15k what the HELZ???

YEP.............simple math
RAWR 6010#
Drive Axle Scaled 2069# (camp ready weight)
Available weight 3050# (amount of weight that can be added to rear axle/carried by rear axle)
Tires 3195/2x 6390# (tires good with 80psi air pressure)
Rear Axle weight limiting factor.
2008 2500------------12K 5th wheel
HOT DAMZZZ, we agree! :B
every once in a while you come around to thinking clearly....:B :B

Reading thru the minihub67 post, using Jimnlin & other posts do I have this "pin weight" thing figured out??
I have 2008 Ram 2500, 6.7 diesel.
Tires are Michelin E rated 265-70-17 & say 3195#. X-2 is 6390#
The door sticker says Rear 6010#.
Cat scale says Steer Axle 4560# & Drive Axle 2960#.
Door sticker of rear 6010# less scaled drive axle 2960# = 3050#
So my max pin wt should be aprox. 3000#, is this correct?
The 2960# scaled drive axle weight is full of fuel, Reese hitch, Honda gen. & misc. Ready to hook up and go.
You'll be way over on the trucks GVWR with that pin weight. I would say you GVWR is around 8,800 lb being a 3/4 ton.
