Progressive insurance

Can anyone please let me know if you have to have more than one vehicle with Progressive to get insurance? When I do a dummy quote online it doesn't mention this (although I have only got up to the "enter VIN details"). I seem to remember someone saying a while ago that you couldn't only have one vehicle (or at least an RV as your only vehicle) as insurance with them. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

The RV and towed are registered in SD, plus a pickup in AZ, all under progressive.

Thank you everyone. Looks like it shouldn't be a problem then. I know there are probably other insurers but I like to get quotes with them because I can do it online! (am from the UK)

You realize that Progressive Ins (USA) is a completely different company than Progressive (UK) Ltd.?

My experience with online vehicle insurance quotes, is that they are always seriously under or over the correct premium stated by a phone rep.

I have Progressive with my motorcycle for 17 years which has been $75 a year for all those 17 years. When I compared auto and motorhome insurance years ago, Progressive came in the most expensive and 21st Century Ins (CA) the least expensive for me.

I have Progressive on my Travel Trailer only.

I like the 5 year total reimbursement coverage.

You might try getting a quote from Gilbert RV Insurance - they deal w/ Progressive along with other companies.

This (recommendation) unfortunately only benefits Wood Glue and/or other CA & OR residents.

Wawanesa - in San Diego - No agents, annual policies only, and only sells insurance in CA & OR (including RV).

Had Progressive with my South Dakota registration - very reasonable.

Upon returning to CA, compared (apples to apples) prices for the exact same coverage - for my pickup & 5th.

A Progressive policy in CA was (considerably) more than same policy in SD. USAA - same thing.

Had Wawanesa (in CA previously), so gave them a try.
Amazing difference!
Slightly over $1K *LESS* (annually) than Progressive or USAA for the exact same levels of coverage.

Adios Flo, Adios Progressive!..:W

Had BIL give them a try - he had GMAC, and is in a higher (more expensive) coverage area of Los Angeles. His annual savings was (only) $300 with Wawanesa.

BTW - when I first had Wawanesa in CA, I happened to be in AAA paying for a vehicle registration.
Gal behind the counter asked if I would like to have a quote for ins from AAA.

Told her - I had already done that (true!), and AAA couldn't compete with my current insurer (also true).

She says: "Who do you have your insurance with?"
When I told her Wawanesa, SHE (the AAA employee) said:
"Oh - we applied to Wawanesa also, but since my husband uses his car for business, they wouldn't insure us."

Kinda like the old EF Hutton commercials, LOL!

I have had three claims with Progressive. They were handled promptly and professionally each time.

Progressive is by far the most advertized company. And even if they were 1/2 the price of anyone else, I wouldn't use them just because of that big red lipped .....person.
Last year in Quartzite there was a line of people wanting to meet Flo. You can't make this stuff up.

Seems to me you see quite a few insurance companies running TV ads. Progressive has been more competitive than the rest of them for me.

Had the MH with Progressive from day one with only ONE claim and the response was instant and very satisfactory. Have our other vehicles insured elsewhere but Safeco I found was no good and Geico is way over-rated for all their ads. As for shafting their stockholders, our rates haven't gone up but a couple of bucks since '04 so they're obviously making a profit.

I have the MH insured with Progressive thru USAA and they were the best price around. It is half the price GEICO quoted me.

Never had a claim so can't comment on their responsiveness.
