Purified Water

Does anyone have any tips or know of a water purification system that you can install in your rv that gets out chlorine and flouride? So far what I know reverse osmosis is the best, but can be difficult and costly to install in an rv. We usually fill jugs with reverse osmosis water from the stations at Walmart and Publix, but not every town has this, and it can be a pain to have to refill jugs every few days.

If that were true, all of us municipal water drinkers would be dead.

The United States Health and Human Services Department recommends a maximum of 0.7 milligrams of fluoride per liter.

reminds me back in college a professor of mine was dead set against fluoride. brought gallons of water in from home to drink at school. something about affecting the hexose monophosphate shunt IIRC. the nays asked for permission to put petitions in dentists office to add fluorine to the local water supplies, but they put in a lethal level in the petition. but folks not knowing better signed their death warrant. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you want that stuff out, you'll need reverse osmosis. I'm not sure who told you that it was difficult and costly to install on an RV (unless you're trying to get *all* the water to be reverse osmosis).

I assume you're talking about drinking water and installing it in the kitchen is as easy as a residential install, probably a little more so as you've got direct access to the PEX.

The only question in my mind - if you need it in the bathroom, that's a separate install OR it means running a line from the kitchen install to the bathroom.

Remember, RO uses about 4 gallons of water to make 1. So it's not super efficient - probably not for off-grid camping.

You can easily buy a basic RO system and the various bits/pieces to have it installed for about $150.

X2. The Fluoride is measured in ppm or ppb. "1 liter" must be a misprint.

x2.

The chlorine, maybe, but why the fluorine? Will this question start a war?

I am not looking to start any wars or debates. The info is out there on the flouride. Studies have shown that it collects in your bones, is absorbed into your brain and pretty much everywhere else. I don't want to say too much because it is just not my style to start any debates. I'm an easy going guy, but happy to also share what I know. I would urge anyone interested to look into it though.

Did you do the same with the water supply to your house prior to FTng??

Many RVrs have dual/multiple canister filters on water supply to the RV.

We just used the in-line blue filter and called it good.
Course I still drink water from a hot rubber garden hose :B

I have been drinking filtered water for years. Like most things bad for you the effects aren't immediately noticed. Most filters don't get everything out. There is approximately 1 liter of flouride to a gallon of municiple water. It's easy to find out the effects it has over years. I'm not here to preach, just drink the best water I can.

x2 We had an unique problem where the water needed some special filtering and they solved the problem with one phone call. Great customer service. Give them a call or an e-mail.

Distilled water is only missing minerals. Most of those come from our food. Drinking it won't cause diarrhea or digestive issues. That's a myth like "blue blood"

Thumbs up!

That movie pops into my head anytime I read concerns about fluoridation ๐Ÿ™‚

Nope. When you have to explain a joke, it loses something.
