How to rid RV of rodents the small type. Caught a red squirrel last fall gave him a toss out the door to a tree, made very effort to break his neck as he hit the tree. Now it seems a relative has taken up residence. How do you get rid of them. I tried traps the little bugger eats the treat and escapes.

just need a Stronger pellet Rifle
one that shoot around 900 ft per second, and use pointed lead pellets, not plastic AKA PBA
the avg $49 daisy that shoots at 450 ft per second
won't stop them

when you get the new one
set up some practice targets
poker chips, stale cookies, etc..
or print some life size targets

My Crossman 2100 Classic with .17 pellet will dispatch anything small (squirrel, rabbit, etc) easily.

What works for mice dosen't seem to work for Red Squirrels. They ate the injector wires off my truck, $1500 and chewed holes in our shed and I tried about everything. If I plugged the holes they just chewed another. I finally lined almost the whole inside with metal screeening. Things are very hard to shot with a pellet gun, live in town so a shotgun is out. I caught one in a live trap after much effort. The only thing that seems to keep them away is "Critter Ridder" I get at Tractor Supply. Have to reply often and can't be used on painted surfaces but does do the job.

Chipmunks live underground. You'd have to have a pretty poor environment for a chipmunk to live inside a structure. Red squirrels, on the other hand, love to gnaw through buildings to gain entrance and build a Winter nest. The easiest way to get rid of rodents is to remove the food source, they will move on if there isn't any of their favorite foods available. Cats are an excellent control for rodents. My new cat is on the hunt every day and is decimating the mice population.

They do not live there but hide their loot. I had trouble with them once. They got in somewhere by the propane tanks and went straight up and stored their acorns between the ceiling and roof. So removing the food source will do no good. They are using it as their pantry.

FYI, my dog ended up capturing all of them. I think she is part cat. She is constantly getting chimpmunks, birds and other rodents.

Well, you can come out and see the "renter" that is using my yard barn as his pantry and apartment. He eats his meals there as one year I emptied 4 garbage cans of opened Butternuts. Those nut hulls burned for three days, lol.

When I said, "remove the food source", I was referring to anything in the immediate area, not just the inside of an RV. It's difficult to do, although, one year I confiscated the food pile before Winter and Mr. Red moved out. I know he was pissed because he sat in a tree above the nuts in the buckets and scolded me for a few hours.

I live 7 doors down from the city mayor, so I use a .22 caliber air rifle. Mine is a Beeman R9. I have taken over 200 of the little buggers in the last 3 years, most recently one yesterday and one today. I tried the live trap/relocate for over a year before I gave up on it. Never got them out of the attic.

They WERE in my attic. My attic has now been vermin free for 2.5 years.

My favorite was the Dumplings.

i don't the anybody was advocating shooting inside the RV

its shoot the critter outside when he is heading for the RV

Nobody in the "hood" is going to hear an air gun inside the RV !

the question was regarding noise and effectiveness of the two different methods
I can explain it to you.

Put out a large pile of Sun Flower seeds and peanuts. That will take care of them. :B

I don't think shooting any firearm in our motorhome is a solution to a rodent problem.

Fobert caps have BB , they are shorter than CB caps and can be harder to find, most sporting goods shops have CB loads in both short and long

I would use a .22 with a CB load. Silent and deadly for rodents.

A .22 with a BB load would work better. A CB load just allows you to tune your CB without transmitting. Don't think the squirrels care about your CB, allthough I have known a lot of squirrely CB operators.

I have electronic pest repellants in my RV. I had squirrels get in the wiring a couple of years ago and it cost me 1400 dollars. I plugged in the pest repellants and they disappeared. I forgot to plug them back in after a trip and within a week the squirrels were back. I've tried using chemical repellants and they didn't work. I spread them around and under my RV and about three days later I notices a squirrel rolling around in repellant under the RV.

I use squirrel trap with peanut butter - i know the varmint is caught (my criteria) allows me to release in wild (wifes criteria) and I get to use the trap in the garden to catch the rabbits.
