roadside assistance programs

Any thoughts out there on Good Sam roadside assistance versus FMCA roadside assistance programs?? Would like the godd ,bad, and the ugly!!

We have had Good Sam for several years and used it once. Was certainly worthwhile for that one time.

Most roadside assistance programs use the same tow truck vendors. They are going to take about the same amount of time to get to you. If you are on I-70 in the middle of Utah, it is going to be a long time before they get there. Or at Big Bend National Park where the nearest tow truck is 140 miles away.

The keys are getting a plan which will tow your RV/ vehicle. If you are going to be visiting out of the way national parks / campgrounds - check for mileage limits.

Most RA plans are written for coverage in metropolitan areas.

Personally I've found that I must go with the top level or premium plan to get good coverage.

I prefer a company like Coach Net which has operators trained in RV needs, and RV technicians available to talk to about your problem.

I have been very happy with Good Sam. Have not used any of the others so have no comparison.

Good Sam worked for me in getting blowout tire replaced. Billing was arranged through GS to avoid any service provider gouging.

AAA. Have helped us several times. One time towed motorhome for us.

Personally, I self insure.

Lots of thoughts are expressed on this subject almost daily since it is asked often. Some searching will reveal hundreds of posts on ERS. Not trying to be mean, just wondering how you haven't seen those threads in the eight years you've been a member of this forum. :B
