we are new to rv life and just bought a TT. yesterday I had a steel car port built to store it in. its against my shop on one side and closed on the other and back, great haven for rodents. we live in the country so we do have a few. question is what can a person do to minimize rodent damage. I don't like poison as I have a dog, neighbors have a cat but its not doing much.my TT looks like its sealed good on the bottom it has the cold weather option.

Hey badsix, Are you still facing rodent problem. There are various methods to minimize rodent damage. There are some steps that one must follow in order to control it like Prevention, Rodent Traps, Rodenticides, Ultrasonic Traps, or calling Professional Pest Control Companies. There are some exterminators like Pest Control Westport CT(http://www.yalepest.com/westport-pest-exterminators) that use eco-friendly chemical solution that won't even harm your dog. You can find one near by you by before hiring look what type of chemicals they are using and it won't harm your dog as well.

Thanks I don't really have a rodent problem yet I just want to prevent the problem before it gets to be a problem. i do have a few cats in the area must belong to the neighbors. that's good they can feed them and let them catch mice over at my house I do have to get back on my prevention task though.

My Peppermint oil costs me less than $15 and it also works.

Not a rodent problem but Peppermint oil is recommended for other stuff. and my current cat is immune to catnip (a relative to Peppermint) unlike the other cat I had who is now deceased so it might work, Plus I like the aroma.

So, now the question: Where do you get it?
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Tripalot, sorry about your mice invasion. I haven't had a single dropping or urine smell with the peppermint oil in over 10 years, and mine sits in a barn in the country.

Glad to hear it works for you. Maybe Canadian rodents don't like the fresh smell of peppermint and so they try to eradicate it with their urine! We now have our rv stored in a different place and the owner claims he routinely sprays the perimeter of the property and according to him, no one has any rodents showing up. Time will tell.

Those evil-doers. Of course no one on here would ever exaggerate or lie. Maybe the peppermint oil people should explain the myths of pest control companies.

Wow, an article written by a pest control company saying home made remedies don't work and you should consult a professional. It must all be true. Chuck

Don't forget to throw salt over your right shoulder (or is it the left??) and chant "no mice" 5 times. :B

The best natural rodent repellent is a cat.
Fortunately we live on acerage, so our cat patrols our place and the neighbors as well. He’s good for 1-2 rodents a day. If you can have an outside cat, that’s the way to go.

Love the myth stuff from a pest control company that just wants your $$$. Real life experience over 10 years makes me a believer in the Peppermint oil method, not some propaganda found on the internet from a pest control company.

You live in the country? Get a cat. Or two. Seriously. Several of our neighbors have cats that roam outside. We haven't had mice in our garage for some time now.

X2

Get the right cat and you will never have problems.

As mentioned earlier, get a barn cat preferably female. Males are not as motivated.
