Hey quick question, were the dead bolt and door handle originally all keyed differently?

I have two keys on my ring one HF and one CF, but only one, the HF, has ever worked on the door, from the day I bought the unit.

Brings me to wonder if, depending on how long this recall has been going on, if the door wasn't already redone.

We got our keys/cylinders yesterday with the enclosed return envelope. I do like that we now have both doors keyed the same: HF340. Makes you kind of wonder if they sent out lots of dupes.

Has anyone asked them if the new cylinders are all different that they are sending out or all the same? Just wondering if we are swapping out key sets that may have hundreds or less of different keys to one of several or just one. I have some on my Trailer and tested one lock and do not have the problem even though the key number was listed.

For anyone that has done the change, care to list you new key number.

If you tried over the weekend, you probably won't get them. I vaguely remember when I ordered some spare keys several years ago that they weren't open on the weekends...

I called yesterday (Monday, 10/21 at around 3 pm @ 800-837-2505) right after I opened the recall letter and checked my locks. Phone was answered on 2nd ring and 5 minutes later I had the cores and core removal key, and 5 keys in the mail. Well, promised to be in the mail Tuesday and I've always had good service from Fastec, so, I should probably have them in a few days.

Try them again and make sure it is between 8-5 pm Eastern time (they are in TN) and Monday through Friday.
My 2 cents, your mileage may vary...

I've tried calling FIC for several days now. Nobody ever answers and their voicemail is full. I don't see an email address on their website. Anyone know of another way to reach them than the 800 number listed?

Edit: Tried again today and got thru. Keys on the way!

If you have a toyhauler with the Fastec locks on the rear door they are also covered by the recall. Just installed for both entry and rear door. (And all keyed alike now)!

my key is "Ilco" so I guess doesn't affect me?

Ilco is a replacement key brand. If you lock looks like the one in the photo on the recall notice, they direct you to look at the key cylinder to check the key code. Also, if you have the problem of being able to pull the key out in the wrong position, they don't care what the key code is, they want to replace it.

Looks like I got lucky, the key code for my door is not part of the list :).

but does it fail test # 2, pulls out in 90 degree position or whatever it was.

Will have to check ๐Ÿ™‚ when I get home tonight and go to open the door :).

Nope, can't pull the key out of the deadbolt until it's returned to the vertical position. So, all good :).
