Sewer smell problem what to try next

We have a sewer smell when we leave the gray valve tank open. I have changed the air admittance valve in the bath room and made sure all p traps have water ( sink and shower) no smell in the kitchen. It does not smell when gray tank valve is closed. This just started this year I used to leave the gray valve open all the time last year with no problem . Any suggestions on what to do next other than leave to gray valve closed?
Thanks

there is one brand of grey and black tank additive that works to eliminate odors, it's called Happy camper. darn good stuff. I have used just about every additive on the market and since I bought a small tub of this stuff, I threw out the other stuff. we just got a new to us used TT and the people said the tanks were empty, they were not and now that I'm home, and found this out, I put in some happy camper and low and behold the smell is GONE.

By leaving gray open, you're allowing sewer gas to travel from the sewer itself up and along your sewer hose, along your gray pipes and upwards through the roof vents.

If this is the case, then I'll bet you notice that the smell is worse outside than inside the rig. (If it's bad inside, then check your traps.)

A simple solution to the problem is simply to loop your sewer hose over itself, creating a trap directly in the hose. You'll need to run enough water into the sewer hose to create the trapping effect. (Of course, you should unloop the sewer hose when you want to dump the black tank.)

When I took the vent cap off one of my tanks I found that wasps had built a condominium in the pipe.

Be sure you make a "P" trap in the stinky slinky going to the dump site. That will keep sewer gas from coming into your MH from the CG sewer lines.

Forget the dish soak, it tends to clog things up when in cold water, almost like grease. Drop in a quarter cup of bleach.

Yes see If you can flush out the grey tank and keep the tank valve close When you leave it open, tho its a grey tank you would be surprised to see what (sediments/solids)still build up in the grey tank, bacteria is the (once again) most common source for foul oders. If you cant flush it threw a tank flush system fill the grey tank with about 3/4 water. While filling up the grey tank with water from the sink (warm water is the best) add 1/2 a cup of dish soap. After that let it sit for about 48hrs or if you want to speed up the processes drive it around to agitate the soapy water in the grey tank. Drive around maybe 20-30 miles. Then just empty the grey tank(s). FINISHED

Always add dish soap whether your using the tank flush system or filling the grey tank using you kitchen sink, always add a lot of dish soap. Dish soap breaks down bacteria, solids and sediments and smells too. HAVE A HAPPY DAY.

Gray water tanks tend to be stinky if they are not cleaned well. I would add so,e bleach to the tank and fill it half full then drive over a curvy rough road. That should take care of the snell.

Check up top and make sure the vent doesn't have obstruction.

Are you in a different park with more odorous sewer gas? If you've primed all the traps, replaced the check valves under the fixtures, it may be just sewer gas coming from the lines. Could you be sucking air in from the roof vent somehow? Why not just keep the valve closed and just open every few days to flush the tank. I think it would be better for your holding tank regardless.

Double check the intake valves again under the fixtures, maybe one of the rubber flappers is stuck. Maybe even try taking out the valve and putting in a plug for a few days to isolate the problem.

If a sewer burps your p traps may pass the pleasantly on into your rig even when they are full and working, most grey systems do not vent up the roof like the stick houses.....burp has to go somewhere....
