shower door frame too low.

Figured Id start coming up with some ideas for my shower. It is in a 2010 Raptor toy hauler. Same type of shower stall as many homes have with the 3 piece glass wall and door. The problem is if I don't pay attention I always hit my head on the piece above the door. It is much lower then my house shower. I am only 5'10" also. The trailer is in storage so I can sit in front of it trying to come up with a cheap solution. HAs anyone had the same and fixed it? So far my only 2 options I can see is to replace the glass with taller or to remove the centre section brace. Removing the brace would work but I think with the flex of the trailer it may come apart. Replacing the glass would be costly I'm thinking.

If you can TIG weld then you don't need to be asking for suggestions here!

1. Duck
2. Make a new top brace that is taller

I can fabricate as well, including welding aluminum. I am thinking I might be able to cut out that centre section as well then make a couple pieces 6" tall that go on top of the glass walls on either side then maybe re-attach the centre section to those.

I would go to a shop that makes custom sized shower enclosures and get some ideas on what is available. If the section of the frame above the door is screwed in place, take it to them. Shower door assemblies are often just screwed together and have hidden brackets. You might be able to get some pieces of frame and the necessary parts to modify the existing.

Do you know who the manufacturer is? Our shower enclosure is made by Shower Enclosures of America or SEA for short. If you can contact the manufacturer you may be able to get what you need.

If you have at least a couple of roof trusses above, you might be able to secure something to the ceiling. May not be feasible tho. due to movement of the trailer.

Or as mentioned, make a new inverted U-shaped frame. Unless you can find the necessary shower brackets, if it were me I get it welded up. All depends on how nice you want it to look.

This actually was one of the ideas I did have as well and might be the best and easiest way to go. It looks like the pic above but the roof is pretty high. Not sure why they would have put in a low door.

I can think of 2 reasons. Cost and Weight.

You would think so yes lol. If I lived in there I would learn but just bought the trailer and used it one weekend. Between that and standing in there for the first time when buying plus going in there once more to check the shower head I think I have hit my head 4 times.:h

That's the first thing I thought of. That's what I would do to remedy the situation.

If it's anything like our 2005 Raptor I would start by pulling the skylight and seeing what structure is above the shower. I think you're right if you pull the cross-brace you need something to keep everything in place. Another thought would be to cut the cross-brace, and replace with something during travel that would lock in place and hold the corners. This might be something that you do along with extended the vertical corners up to the ceiling and hopefully to the aluminum frame.
