Two thumbs up for 2 products. Make that 3 thumbs up

Driving home from my last RV trip almost 2 weeks ago, my TST tire monitoring system started alarming "high temperature" on the right front tire. It was reading 160 degrees.

I pulled over and stopped. When I opened the door to get out, you could smell an overpowering odor of brake discs. The right front brake had started dragging and smoke was coming out of the wheel well. Fortunately, it did not catch fire.

I was less than 3 miles from home at this point, so I sat about 2 hours and let it cool down, then crept home at a very slow speed.

So, my first thumb up is to TST tire monitoring system. It very likely saved me from an RV fire started in the wheel well.

My second thumb up is to CoachNet Roadside Assistance. Even though the RV was sitting in my driveway, they still dispatched a tow truck to take it to the dealer to be fixed. Not every service will cover you if your vehicle is at home.

Update on overheating wheel:

Two weeks at Ford, $412, a new right front brake caliper, and all is good.

Now I just have to program the new TST receiver that they mailed me.

In a different thread, I have posted about the battery in my TST Receiver dying. When I called them, they said they would send a replacement receiver, but were apologetic about it not going out before Tuesday due to the holiday. I said that was OK, the RV was in the shop now anyway.

Then I said "BTW, your TST system saved me from an RV fire last week...."

Actually, I guess that makes it 3 thumbs up, with 2 of them going to TST: one for saving me from an RV fire and one for customer service.

I posted a similar situation, different manufacturer, but same great results. The high temp warning made me pull over to find smoke coming from the front brakes. The tow brake had caught up and was keeping enough pressure to engage the towed brake. A half hour to let the brakes cool down and all was well. Yes, I did need new rotors when we got home.
