Driving home from my last RV trip almost 2 weeks ago, my TST tire monitoring system started alarming "high temperature" on the right front tire. It was reading 160 degrees.
I pulled over and stopped. When I opened the door to get out, you could smell an overpowering odor of brake discs. The right front brake had started dragging and smoke was coming out of the wheel well. Fortunately, it did not catch fire.
I was less than 3 miles from home at this point, so I sat about 2 hours and let it cool down, then crept home at a very slow speed.
So, my first thumb up is to TST tire monitoring system. It very likely saved me from an RV fire started in the wheel well.
My second thumb up is to CoachNet Roadside Assistance. Even though the RV was sitting in my driveway, they still dispatched a tow truck to take it to the dealer to be fixed. Not every service will cover you if your vehicle is at home.
