Let's share book ideas!

I'm currently reading Huckleberry Finn. Haven't read it since I was a kid and, no surprise, it's a lot more complex than I remembered :). And a good traveling book!

Also highly recommended, from my just-finished pile, Motoring with Mohammed. It's nothing about war -- it's a travelogue from the 80s, about Yemen. Beautifully written.
3/4 timing in a DIY van conversion. Backroads, mountains, boondocking, sometimes big cities for a change of pace.

If you ever watch the "bushcraft" videos on YouTube, Proeneke's name inevitably comes up. I need to read that (or watch the biography) one of these days.

Shawn James has a YouTube series where he builds a cabin that is interesting to watch.

Finished "Promise Me Dad" By Joe Biden. I must admit that this was Joe's story as well as his son's fight with cancer. I get welled up several times as you really miss both Joe and Obama and the high degree of quality people and their family's caring and closeness to each other. The book gives an insiders view of a father trying to be the vice president that was very involved with the world and a father struggling with his son's illness.

The Woman Who Smashed Codes: A True Story of Love, Spies, and the Unlikely Heroine Who Outwitted America's Enemies, by Jason Fagone.

It's the story of Elizabeth Friedman, who with her husband William, invented the modern science of cryptology. Although William got most of the credit, even contemporaries acknowledge that Elizabeth was the real brilliance.

Amazing couple, well worth the read.

The Lost City of Z
Very well written timeline of true story of Fawcett's exploration of the Amazon and his disappearance. Movie out this year but I'm not going to watch it until I finish the book! I've been slowed down by new puppy that requires many eyes to see where he is and what he's doing.

Harlan Coben's Hold Tight. A book with about 4 plots going on and each has it's own group of players. Interesting and in the end they all come together.
