This has not happened to us yet, however from time to time we get stuck in traffic for extended periods of time and am wondering do people open up their rv's to strangers in order to use the bathroom?

We got stuck in a 5-hour traffic stop due to a fatal accident on an expressway. While having an RV is a blessing in situations like this (we were able to watch TV and see why we were stopped!) - no one ever asked to use our bathroom. When we finally DID get moving, we noticed a lot of wet spots on the pavement from "tire checks", however.....

Depending on the circumstances, I might let a mom with a child, or an elderly woman use ours (assuming it's not winterized). Guys?? Nope - they already have the advantage of "every shrub is a urinal". And when you think of it from the other viewpoint - I think most people would not be comfortable going into a stranger's "home" to use the bathroom. WE know RVers are good folks, but millions of people watched "Breaking Bad"....LOL!

I was stuck in traffic on a very warm afternoon for several hours due to an accident. Several people with rv's kindly opened their bathrooms and supplied water to travelers with very young children. I think we would have to make decisions on a case by case basis, we would not let large numbers of people troop through our relatively small fiver and leave us with full tanks and a mess to clean up.

There may be a rare case where I would, but in general the answer is no. As noted above, likely a line would form if in a long line of stranded traffic. Only once have we been in such a situation, an hour long stop in a very long line of traffic due to accident closing an interstate highway. I finally had to go to the trailer myself, hoping all along that no one would approach me about using it. Fortunately no one did.

Since 1976, I have had this come up only once. A dear lady asked if she could use our bathroom. The plea in her eyes could not be refused.

I think that each case would have it's own merits.
