Is this the place to put this, not sure?

My wife and I don't do a lot of long distance traveling, usually once a year, like now. It's the week between Xmas and New Years and we're a couple lets say our mid to late 40's... We're camped in Biloxi Mississippi at the Boomtown RV park and here we are on Christmas night and the place is dead, what do yall do?

We love sitting outside having some adult drinks, listening to some good country and conversation. Problem, nobodys outside... this isn't new to this place, it's like this at most places we camp...

what's the issue?

No one is outside? That is great, you can turn up the radio a little more. :C We love being the only people outside and doing the same as you. Enjoy!

We're in central Florida, and my preference is friendly neighbors, but not to the point I have to entertain them all the time, or them me.

Everywhere has bad grammar habits. Here in Bermuda you won't hear "Where you at?" You will hear "Where you to?" Just as bad. What happened to "Where are you?"

On the social side of RVing we enjoy meeting people & I do admit to setting up a few lures which often spark a conversation. A small Bermuda flag gets mounted on the pinbox of the 5er. You won't see that very often in a CG. Also, the trailer has a name which has a graphic woven into it. There is a decal front & rear. You won't see a marine grill in a CG very often too. It tags us as boaters & generates much curiosity. Lastly, we have fold up bikes made by DownTube. Different. They sometimes spark a conversation.

The 5er itself has been the source of interest. There are not many Alpenlites around. Hardly ever see one east of the Mississippi. In a world of Montanas & other high mass produced units our Voyager really stands out to other 5er owners.

It is all good. We have met many who have become more than one night around the campfire friends.

We are new to RVing and this is our first snowbird trip to Florida. We really enjoy walking and talking with people. We enjoy sitting in the hot tub and talking to people. There are many, many days (especially the first month we arrived here) that we were glued to the computer finishing needed projects/paperwork/etc. that had to be done. Projects and issues have come up that need attending to. Family issues have come up and medical issues have come up. I wish I could have spent more time outside and socializing. I love socializing. RV people are very generous/kind and fun! We did attend the holiday dinner and had fun talking with people. But I guess that everyone has their to do lists!

Interesting thread, thank you!

I see this a lot. Folks will pull in level and you never see them again. I can do that at the house. LOL!!! But, to each his own......

We're at home (S&B) right now because Christmas for us is family time. When we are on the road, I dream up ice breakers as I wander around the campground. My Darling Grandchildren tell the DW if she asks where I am, Oh "G"Dude is out making friends.

We do like music in the background, I usually ask anyone out if it's bothersome or even can they hear it. I like it but a lot of folks don't so I keep it kinda soft and low. And my stuff leans toward John Denver, P,P&M, Jimmy Buffett, classic Simon and Garfunkle. So if you hear than and it's bothering you please say so, I'll turn it off and talk your leg off about where to go and where we've been. I'd even like to se a slide show of your travel pictures.

My wife and I come from big families. So, after 3 of these (see photo), we decided that we didn't want to spend another Christmas in the motorhome.

Honestly, nothing would drive me inside faster or keep me there longer than having to hear country music from a neighboring site. I love rock, but I don't play it outside while camping. We go camping to hear the birds and the waves and the wind in the trees, not bass or faint tinny sounds of someone else's music. I really wish people would remember that the sound of music carries, and your neighbors may not enjoy your taste in music or want to half-hear any music at all.

As far as socializing, I happen to love meeting and having chats with my camping neighbors. We have met so many nice folks that way. But sitting outside drinking and partying for hours on end? No.

I'm not antisocial, I've just been single all my life. So far, I haven't started talking to myself. I enjoy the chance to read when I'm on the road. But if I'm outside in a chair, there's another empty one next to it with a cooler between them. Stop by and we'll chew the fat with your choice of beverage to wash it down.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

To the OP:

What you need to do is search CG's that offer all types of activities. There are tons of them around. Some CG's have so many different activities going on each and every day that it would be hard not to find one that you didn't enjoy.

I've seen them with woodworking classes, quilting, bingo, card games square dancing, dish to pass dinners every night, around the campfire chats, etc. etc. all at ONE CG.

If you enjoy doing and meeting different people that's what you need to look for in a CG. There are MANY CG's like this especially in the RGV and in Florida which do cater to a lot of Snowbirds, Full timers who DO like to have all the activities to participate in to meet people. :C

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

I agree with tonyandkaren, It seems a lot of folks go to the public CG's, NP, NF, COE and such, to get away for other people,go hiking, fishing, kiaking, or just sitting outside alone.
We are not anti social, but we don't go camping/RV'ing in search of others to converse with, if someone stops by and starts a conversation, we will certainly chat with them, but we don't go search for them.

Being from Florida, and using its really nice State Parks through the years, I can't think of a single time we have not spoken too, had drinks with, sat around a fire with those we have met at the parks! We are active at the parks with cycling, walking, canoeing, kayaking, snorkling and always meet outgoing fun people!

Hopefully your future parks will be more active / fun for you! If you ever see us sitting outside, stop on by !

Happy camping!
