Kudos to this lady for sharing the final journey with her dearly departed, and having the opportunity to say all she needed to during that last trip together in privacy. I truly hope she did what she knows her husband and herself would have wanted.

Legality might be the last thing you'd think about. Laws vary from state to state.

She was told to stop and get a death certificate.

I find it 'very' hard to believe that any doctor is going to give a death certificate without removing/seeing the body from the RV to make sure there was no foul play and that he did indeed die of natural causes. I think there is way more to this story on 'how' it was done than this short clip of a story.

Transporting a family member AFTER they die in a hospital, a death certificate is issued after viewed by a doctor, from a funeral home with paperwork is done all the time and is legal.

Get stopped by the cops with a deceased person in your car without the paperwork for it and well I think you'd find yourself on the 10 o'clock news and in jail. Death in the family or not I certainly would not have done it.

"The Woman who did nothing illegal will not fact charges".. (I can not comment on a line like that).

When my wife died in SC in 2013.. Since we had both opted for Cremation for assorted reasons I won't go into.. I carried her ashes back to michigan in the RV. She road in the same seat she road down to SC in. I do have a service that would have flown her back but this way both she and I arrive together.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I agree OP legality would be he last thing on my. A person has to do what they have to do

Very strong lady, and sad story. However, discussing the legality is truly absurd! At that point, it would be the last thing on my mind. God bless her.

Maybe the wife is a Marine or a Marines wife.

I have heard of that before, it is perfectly legal. It makes more sense than paying some mortuary $1,000 to transport him.

When my Dad passed he was to be buried in Web city MO 3 hrs away. The funereal home asked if I wanted to transport him myself or for them to send a hearse. I was shocked at the time that it was a option. I had him sent by hearse but wish I took him in my truck, it would of been what he would of wanted.

Very strong lady.
