I'd say that the car has greatly exceeded its pin weight rating. Look at the rear squat on that thing.

"Girl in the car was on the phone . . . ." Tells the story, doesn't it? One more instance of Distracted Driver Syndrome. As Click & Clack, the Tappet brothers always used to say "Drive now, talk later."

Well, I did some checking and got the hot poop on this crash from the local news service. Happened on the 13th in Virginia Beach. Trailer's brakes locked up and stalled the rig in traffic. Girl in Nissan was on the phone when she crashed into the RV. LINK

Cars today are smoothed out wedge shapes

Road was wet, car was wet, underside of the TT was wet

Perfect case of everything being lubricated
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

At any rate, if the hitch lets go that truck is coming down fast and will roll onto it side. The lady getting into the back was in real danger.

Not so sure that's what happened.. TOO much front end damage to the Nissan.. I honestly have NO IDEA what happened there ! ! !

The car’s hood and front fenders are stuffed behind it which could only happen if it went under the rear of the trailer and it got scraped up over the roof. That”s what I’m going with.

If the truck had hit the car it would have been punted, not run over.

Regardless, impressive how well that car held up.

Looks to me like the truck went over the top of the car. If the car had rear-ended the trailer, the trailer would have disintegrated.

I'm guessing that Outback weighs a little more than 1397 lbs..

I like when these bloggers do their research. What mindless goon thinks its physically possible to have a trailer that size that weighs 1,400 pounds?

Go to the Outback site, click specs, and you will see that the CARRYING WEIGHT of the 300ML trailer (which happens to be the first one on the list) is 1,397 pounds. Shipping weight? 8,103!

Way to vet your research! :S
