Worst/Best RV products you have found

Some products are much better than expected and some a big disappointment. Please post some of yours findings. One of my favorites is my Alpenlite 5th wheel. they are built in Washington and are rare in the eastern U.S. Very good quality and 100 gal fresh water capacity and 100 gal gray water. One of that bad things I found are RV manufacturers, mainly 5th wheels that send new rigs out the door with inadequate tires. Blowouts seem very common. Thanks

Do you have a link for this? I'd love to see what it looks like.

Hmmmm ... pretty "generic, blanket" likes and dislikes.

Unfortunately, your favorite went out of business in April,'08..:(

The bad things you found = genuine shocking revelation, LOL!

~

OK - you asked about the *BEST* RV products you have found.

Here's 315 pages, approx *THREE THOUSAND* posts, almost 8 years worth of things folks found they like -

thread - "Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products, & Gizmos"..:C

Maybe this thread should be limited to the worst products you have found?..:h

~

Maybe not! It is good to have a fresh look at things, and I like the idea of good and bad together. By your own description...an 8 year and 3,000 post long thread gets pretty unwieldy. I encourage others to continue posting their bests and worsts to this thread.

On the subject of worst products . I once purchased a sink cover that was made out of wood and doubled as a cutting board. Problem was it was glued together so cheaply that in one year it fell apart.

Agree...this has to be the best portable bbq out there. Great for everything. We have a flat pan that fits perfectly and we cook bacon and eggs in the morning.

My trusty, dusty, 20 year old 250 Watt Prowatt inverter. It will run the TV and DV D Player, charges all of the AC toys (and that is not a small number), and has probably eliminated hundreds of hours of generator run time. Paid less than $100 for it back in 1994. :B

The Harbor Freight Splitter and the 4# hammer that drives it. Makes firewood out of large hunks/rounds that others discard. Both for about $20.

The Blue Tooth capable wireless speaker. Music where we want it that disturbs no one else. Takes a feed from any Blue Tooth device as well as a cable feed from any music source. they go for around $69 at Target, Radio Shack Amazon, you name it.

Probably should have been at the top of my list but you got to get a Scan Gauge! Paid for ($139 on Amazon), in just a few months with the fuel savings alone. Gives me transmission fluid temps and dozens of other read outs and is a built in code reader.

My Pressure Cooker. if you don't have one you need one. Safe, fast, efficient, healthy, delicious and cost effective cooking just like mom did. (no, they don't blow up anymore).

The full size Mag Lite (flashlight), ask any cop, they know. When you really want to see what is out there this is the bulletproof one to get the job done (and they last about 20 years).

I am sure I'll think of other items but these are no brainers, got to have, reliable, go to, use on every trip items. As always.... Opinions and YMMV. :C

This swagman bike carrier makes it so easy to load and unload my bikes that I take them everywhere now. Folds up for either storage or to keep from wacking your shins when not holding bikes. Mine goes on a receiver hitch I mounted to the front of my truck.

This Black and Decker is a great little vacuum for anything where you have 12 volts of power. There's even an adapter to plug it into the AC wall outlet at home if you want! Plenty of power, not bags, and comes with all the accessories and storage. I got mine on sale for under $30;

I use this in my camper by the door. When I climb in at night, it turns on automatically to light where my feet are going. When I hop out of bed, same thing without waking every body or hurting my night vision. Auto on at night + motion to trigger it. Works on batteries;

Induction cook top. I use this when making a mess cooking inside isn't a good idea. I've used it for deep frying, boiling crab at the ocean, etc. My genny handles it just fine but you do need ferric metal pots to use. (If a magnet sticks to the bottom of your pot, it will probably work.)

Cheap at Amazon too! Less than $60 shipped

Wireless thermometer. I use one in the freezer and one in the fridge. You could put them anywhere; like outside at night, in the kid's tent, etc. and know what the remote temperature is. I like to keep it in the cab when going down the highway all day so I would know if my food isn't staying cold for some reason;

I like to tag my stuff so it gets returned to where it came from; MY GARAGE!
So I had a bunch of these brass dog tags made up with my contact information. So far, it's gotten my camera case returned and I was able to identify my binoculars when another camper helped themselves to them after I left them on the picnic table.

They won't rust or wear out. Available, of course, at Amazon.

Dryer sheets for sure for my 'C'. The bonus was that friends of mine have two daughters that thought that $10 each for that job was big money, and they could stand on the hood to clean the overhead without leaving dents. But they grew up and realized that $10 was chump change. Rats!
