Redwoods camping

Has anyone any recommendations for rv camping in the Crescent City, Ca. area to view the Redwoods? I was considering Hiouchi RV Resort. Thank You

Your not going to see red woods East, as they need the mist from the coast . Big trees inland are Sequoias.

Muir woods may work for you, about a half hour North of San Francisco, take advantage of the tram service as there is very little parking. Petaluma koa was nice, my kids loved it if that applies.

Can someone tell me where we can see the redwoods as far east as possible? We still want to see the giants, but am finding a hard time figuring out how far west we have to go to camp and the family to enjoy them. We are coming from Phoenix on the way to Myrtle Beach SC. I think this is one the must see things before we leave the west.

I'll second all those recommending Jedediah Smith State Park. I would definitely make sure that you get reservations during the summer months. Also be sure to check the max RV size. We have many fond memories of camping there with our kids. The Smith River there is pretty shallow and gentle and the fog from the coast seems to want to stop at the park entrance. We are hoping we may be able to go back there this summer with our grand kids this time.

Jedidiah State Park. For just about any larger campgrounds, you need reservations weeks ahead of time. However, smaller mom and pop type campgrounds usually fill up quickly Thursday through Sunday. Or at least that has been our experience. We also love Patrick's Point campground but I am pretty sure you need reservations a year in advance. The redwoods are so amazing, even if you have to camp in a parking lot, take the time to explore.

As I remember, at the KOA you actually camp in amongst the redwoods!

X2 on Jed Smith but keep two things in mind..... reservations are a good idea and the CG is very tight. If you have a large rig(anything much over 30') you probably won't fit or at best will struggle to get in/out.

We prefer Jedediah State Park, but if you prefer full hookups, then Hiouchi RV Resort is fine for an RV Park.

We like the KOA, drove by Hiouchi two days ago it looked very nice from the road

Note there are plenty of Redwoods south of Crecent City also, we are currently in Arcata
