We humans are easily trained. We have had nothing but rescues for the last 26 years. They come with baggage from their former life often mixed with fear and uncertainty, but soon adapt to the home, In doing so they also find their way into our hearts and become our children.

We have three dogs, Suzie, Peaches, Hobo and I must not forget Izzie the cat who was rescued by our dog Levi. Yes Levi our Australian Shepherd brought Izzie home fourteen years ago. He found Izzie in the bushes in our front yard and picked him up and brought him to the house. They were best buddies all of Levi's life. Gosh I miss that dog.

🙂 Hi, we always had dogs and we love our dogs. Our dogs are not allowed on our furniture or in our beds. They have their own beds. They can go almost anywhere in our house except for the bed rooms. Dusty, our latest dog, has three beds. One in the kitchen, one in the living room, and one in the truck. We never get the same kind of dog because we never want to think of them as a replacement. After our fourth dog, we were not going to have any more. The Vet bills were quite high. When we didn't feel good, we would sweat it out. When the dogs were sick, they went to the Vet. More medical bills for the dogs than us. Well Dusty is number five; He adopted us when his/my parents passed away.
You could have described me with your statement other then I always rescue Collies and I will always have a Collie or two.

🙂 Hi, when I was a kid, my parents raised Collies. My second dog was a Collie. He came from a long family of champion show dogs, but he wasn't show quality and I didn't want a show dog. I wanted a pet. As a puppy he had huge feet and very small eyes. So in naming him, we named him "Champ" and his AKC name was "Tiny Eyes Clydesdale".

On second thought, we could replace the "dogs" in the saying with "pets." That will work.

Well spoken; I would only change it to "dogs and cats".

Dogs go with us. Cats stay at son's house when we roll. In the RV the dogs like to wedge themselves up against us in the bed. No chance an intruder would surprise us.

Can't change the saying. (It's not mine)

Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

I like cats but not enough to own any.

On second thought, we could replace the "dogs" in the saying with "pets." That will work.

That's how dogs break in "resistant" owners.

I gave up long ago and they start right out sleeping on the bed, and under the covers if they are small enough!!!

Dogs are not our complete life, but they do make our life complete.

Sounds like us except the furniture and bed. I have a very mild allergy so it is no to the furniture. But... when the grand dog visits, I cover the furniture and she gets on up. Our ACD is miffed and normally spends a lot of time nudging us and looking at the grand dog on the couch. One addition to the original list... I will never buy ice cream for a dog - Now if we stop for ice cream we get her a small dish.

We have always had dogs and they went everywhere we went, slept on the bed with us, even as kids. They are part of the family...

yes, and I was never going to have a cat. Now I have a cat that for some reason ignores my wife and follows me everywhere... she loves cats and I love dogs...
