Mole on dog's front leg ... light colored, questions ?

Today we noticed a growth, like a mole on Petunia's front leg - it is small like the size of a small q-tip .. will have it checked by a vet shortly, but was wondering in the meantime if anyone else has had this problem before?

They make soft collars that may be more comfortable....saw that at Petco

Our little 10-yr-old Miss Petunia the Chi had surgery at the vet's to remove some of her teeth due to tartar & infection, plus a growth off her front leg (waiting on pathology report.

A couple of hours ago she came home and is snug and warm, she ate half a jar of Beechnut chicken and gravy baby food, and has had her pain meds, plus antibiotics, so is sleepy now. She only has 4 teeth left now - her canines on bottom plus two front teeth on top.

Petunia had the growth removed today when she went in for teeth cleaning, etc. She came home with a cone due to having to keep her from chewing at the 2 stitches on her front leg when she is either sleeping or left alone.

What we do for our little pet dogs.

PS: will post when we get the report back on the growth, hopefully by Tuesday morning.

One of our Boston Terriers has one on his leg and the vet said don't worry it's nothing to worry about. He did say if it starts bothering him or changes he would probably take it off. For now everything is good. It is good that your having it looked at though to get it checked by a Vet.

These are very common in all breeds of dogs. Your vet will be able to tell a lot by looking at it. Most are benign and only need to be removed if they cause a problem, but dogs do get melanomas, mast cell tumors and other skin cancers that do need to be removed. Your vet may just look, do cytology or recommend removal.

We all get bumpier with age. Try not to stress until you can get it looked at.

Our Yorkie has a ton of what raindove described...actually, probably 20 or so....our other Yorkies had the same issue, and they never seemed to bother them, but also as raindove does, if they scratch them and open them up, off they come

I have cockers and they are prone to getting warty type growths on them. They seem to develop in the latter years.

Some of the benign things you can just let go, unless they develop into a problem. Had a few dogs have some, that grew larger when they were older, and they would knock them open and they'd bleed. We pretty much just let them go unless they start bleeding or turn into a problem. If that happens we remove them.

I'd get it checked by a vet. It could be nothing, but it could be something.

I'm not familiar with your breed, so I don't know if it's common or not.
Good luck.
