5ver suspension replacements

Hello,

I will be replacing my suspension parts on the fifth wheel trailer within the next two weeks. Went to order parts and ran into a few questions that i need some answers (or maybe not).

Trailer description: 2005 K-Z Durango 275RK, 10,000 lbs max weight. Tandem axles, (AL-KO 5200 lbs axles) 33" center to center. It came with 15" wheels and i upgraded to 16" wheels with LT tires.

1. Measuring for the right size springs. What is best way to get measurement while mounted on trailer? Axles suspended in air with wheels off the ground or wheels on the ground and weight of trailer on axles?

2. The equalizer that is factory installed is an EQ-310. The dimensions are 6 1/16" wide, and 4" tall. Looking at the replacements with bushings built into them that absorb the bumps (Trail Air, Equaflex, flex flex flex etc.),there are none that match the current equalizer size. Is there any models that will work without changing the height? I do not want to lose anymore clearance.

3. If i was to change the equalizer size, wouldn't that change the size of the springs?

Thank you for the help,

Greg

Tucson Jim,

Those CRE3000 have different demensions than my equalizer. That is kind of why i asked question 2 and 3. I would like to but the 3 companies i looked at don't seem to make one with a 6" wide, 4" tall model.

You can still use them if you meet the requirements in the MORryde qualification guide. Check this out:

CRE3000 Qualification Guide

I'm sure other brands will have similar guides available.

I did purchase my brakes and drums from a shop in Dallas. That was a couple of years ago. They had decent prices but i had to go up there and pick up the parts. They carried everything trailers..but i will order from etrailer and when they show up, install them.

Glad to help!
etRailer does have some good information.
My brother went to some spring shop around Dallas. I do not know the name, but had many in stock.

I see that Dexter bought AL-KO.
Question 2 etrailer

I will need to get back under the trailer and see if i can find a lable or markings on the springs that will let me know.

Climbed back under rig. Used sand paper to clean up the lables. My springs are modle 93115, 4 leaf 3000lbs, 25.125", and axles are T52..AL-KO 5200lbs.

Thank you for the help. Made me go investigate further into what i have.

I just replaced the suspension components on my 2017 Grand Design TT with MorRyde components from Amazon. They offer two selections, 33" wheel base, and 35" wheel base. For the equalizer, I'd recommend the 33" version of this one:

MorRyde CRE3000 Equalizer

Here is a picture of a 35" version installed on my rig:

While you're at it, I'd recommend you upgrade your bushings and shackles with a new shackle, bushing and wet bolt kit. The one I used is also from MorRyde. It includes much beefier shackles, bronze bushings and wet bolts so you can keep the system lubricated for long life. Measure your shackles before ordering. Here's a link to the kit I used with 2-1/4" shackles.

MorRyde shackle and wet bolt kit

Here is a photograph of my OEM Lippert shackles side by side with the new MorRyde shackles. As you can see, they are about twice the thickness of the cheap Lippert junk.

I have spent a few days on the etrailer site and spoke a few times with them on the phone. Great company, and will be purchasing parts from them. Hoping some suspension gurus could maybe answer the questions. Thank you for the input.
