Auto Levelers StabilizerJacks: All 4 down when Leveled?

Are all 4 Auto Leveling Jacks suppose to make contact with the ground when the motorhome is fully leveled?

When leveling, the back "passenger" side Jack extends down, touches the ground and levels. Yet when the "driver's" side rear Jack extends downwards and lifts the "driver's" side rear to find level, the "passenger's" side Jack that was on the ground, lifts off the ground yet does not re-extend to make contact with the ground. There is more shaft to extend in the "passenger's" side Jack.

The motor that extends the Jacks "whines" at the end of the leveling cycle for what seems to be a longer period than needed...like it's trying to extend the Jacks more (maybe the "passenger's side rear Jack). The Jacks control panel registers a green light at the end of the cycle saying all's leveled. All Jacks retract as designed when the command for "Jacks Up" is called for.

The questions: "Are all fours Leveling Jacks suppose to be in contact with the ground at all times when "Jacks Down" is engaged?"

Thank you for your responses.

3 of the 4 jacks are solid on the ground. The side/end that is not is being supported by a Jack, has the tire for support.

ALL 4 jacks should be on the ground regardless of brand Jacks. Now, IF 1 or more jacks cannot extend anymore(they have reached their full lift extension) then they may not touch the ground. But, most Auto control systems will not allow that to happen. What type of Jack system do you have and Year model of RV? Doug

Verify that both rear jacks are mounted at the same height on the frame rails---When retracted and on level ground BOTH have the same distance from the ground within 1 inch. Your system and Brand, all 3 or 4 jacks should be on the ground in auto level mode. Some PG systems had just 1 front center jack, but I believe Winne uses the 4 jack system. What happens if you manually try to extend the rear jacks after this happens? Does the short jack try to extend? Have you tried the system lately on a level pad? Doug

Just returned from the RV after having another look at this. All's installed correctly. Level works fine. One Jack being off the ground is not an issue and seems to occur when there is a greater change in elevation side-to-side. The "short" Jack does not extend to meet the ground, as the wheel is establishing level w/o needing the Jack's support. Going to silicone the hydraulic arm when extended to assure lubrication is not the issue since it's been stored since last Fall. Other than that, all appears to be working as designed.

If I had a jack off the ground, I would raise them all back up, put blocking under that jack and re-level. Otherwise, I'd be worried about damaging the system or twisting the coach frame. Just my $0.02.

Our Itasca has HWH levelers. They are all on the ground all the time. They work in pairs to prevent chassis twist, never alone. rear 2 go down and touch, front 2 go down and touch, then coach gets leveled. All 4 on the ground and degree of site slope doesn't seem to matter.

Depends on how level the site from front to back - In my drive way the front two jacks do not ever stay on the ground
