Looking like roll my own is the answer. Anyone seen a good deal on 10/3 or 8/3 cold weather cable?

No idea about the bulk cord, but for connectors, I am a fan of the Progressive Industries cord ends. I have not used the female end, but have two of the male ends and am quite happy with them. They are longer, giving you more room for stripping the jacket and flexing the wires inside, and have nice clamp type terminals that hold the wire well. In addition the blades are nickel plated and it seems to make them slide in and out of receptacles easier than bare brass.

The Home Depot has 10/3 x 100ft extension cord, flexzilla brand on sale for $89.

I could cut that up and make myself a 30 foot cord and a 50 foot cord, and have some left over for whatever.

Yes and if I remember yours 6/3- 8/1, I have a 6/4 and the 40’ cable fits in a 3 gal bucket. These are both 50 amp cables!

Just buy a cold weather 10-3 extension cord, I have one. You just need to put your Dog-bone at the beginning of 10-3 instead of at the post.

Sjow or sjoow would work. Prefer junior cable, don't need 600v insulation rating.

When I'm back from my Canadian road trip I'll see what the local welder supply can order for me.

Thanks for the ideas all!

Do not know what SJEOW means ...

Ignore the S
J = only good for 300V (if the J is missing, then 600V)
E = elastomeric outer insulation
O = oil resistant outer insulation
OO = oil resistant outer and inner insulation
W = water resistant

T = thermoset plastic insulation - stiff when cold
no second letter means "rubber" insulation

For you DIYers, I have found the best place to buy portable cordage and wire in general is https://www.wireandcableyourway.com/

They have SJEOOW, same temp range as Polar (-50ºC to +105ºC) and stranding (104/30) and only $1.07 plus shipping.

Do not know what SJEOW means but I got my cold and I mean COLD weather 30 amp extender at General RV.. THe thing that stood out is the color. NOT black. 13 years later I need to put a new outlet end on it.. So it's wound up in my RV waiting for me to get to the parts store again (part is waiting there) the thing is wound about the same size as those new steel wrapped garden hoses are when still banded to the card. That is one tight coil. it was cold when I wound it.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Looks like good stuff (high strand count = maximum flexibility).

WHERE CAN YOU BUY IT !

EDIT : They sell it on their web site, but OMG ! $2.41/foot !!

Will SJTW work, just don't dump oil on it.

I always thought the SJOOW was more flexible, especially in cold weather. (SOOW is much thicker because it is designed for up to 600V operation.)
