Dash camera recommendations

I did a search... and only came up with 6 hits for "dash camera" on this forum?? That seems odd.

Sooooo.... people experienced with dash cameras, what is your recommendation? Wife wants ideas for gifts, and I mentioned a dash camera. We just have no idea which one to buy, or which features are important.

What would be nice, but not a deal breaker, is adding a rear camera - preferably wireless if they have those? I assume I could use it for backing up and hitching.

Thanks for all responses!

Remember these can be a " two edged sword " in an accident but I still use one. I have a basic Polaroid brand that was a birthday gift.
I noticed today's Walmart Black Friday add two brands on sale cheap.

Only recommendation from here is to get an extra SD card to go with it. In case of an incident, remove and store the installed card, and replace with the new one so that the camera continues working. This was a hint from a friend that had an opportunity to need the recorded video.

I've had the Vantrue X4 for a few months now and really like it. I've been able to make some neat videos from our drives.

I have two of the Viofo/SpyTec A119. One in the car, one in the RV.

Viofo is the OEM manufacturer. Spytec sells them under their name. Same thing.

Try searching for `dash cam' and read on.
We have a Blackvue DR750S-1CH that you can search for online and see examples of it in action. One can remove the card from the camera and insert it into a holder that plugs into your computer which allows one to see what it has seen during your travels.
One of these days it will record an accident which we will be able to use for whatever purpose.

Kdlinks - purchased about three years ago - still works and provides a good video. Got it on Ebay but it's available on Amazon.
At the time I purchased it, it was recommended by many on the full timers forum.

We have used two of these (one in the truck and one in the car) for several years. Very happy with them.

I use the one shown below, bought off amazon. You do need a micro SD card, and the dash cam itself is $70 with the SD card about $10. I used another brand dash cam that did not work for more than a year. The AUKEY that we have now has excellent video and night video, and loops to record 3 hours +, with writing files over itself unless you want to hit the save button or there is an accident and it saves automatically.

We have 5 of these dash cams, one for each car and the RV. Yes, there are fancier units with rear view, but this version worked for us. There are cheaper versions, but that bit us as I've said.

Thankfully we've never had an accident and needed it, but I've saved a few near misses that had the heart pumping.

Search this on Amazon and check it out. Highly rated, good quality so far.
