We have a Generac 4500 in our 30' holiday rambler admiral. When we shut if off it makes several loud clunking sounds that we can feel in the coach as it shuts off? Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Our older ONAN, a twin cylinder 1800-rpm unit, would shut down smoothly. Our current ONAN, single cylinder 3600-rpm, thrashes like it's having convulsions.

Idiot manufacturers could install a counterbalance shaft which eliminates this altogether.
I used to use HEAVY springs attached to vertical posts in the genset compartment to really dampen this irritation. But the genset needs a spring at each corner. Means fabricating bracket tabs. Stretching the springs when installing is not fun.
My Onan used to do that also, but the mounts always appeared fine when I looked at them. I ended up forciing a short piece of radiator hose between the genset and the frame, which quieted it down a lot.
I have a whole home Generac and you'd think the motor is going to bust thru the case when it stops. Been doing that for 10 years cant figure it out but after all this time and no damage and it starts and runs fine I kinda just forget about it
