Generator Debate

Honda, Yamaha, Hyundai????

Just switched over from a toy hauler to camping trailer, now I need to consider generators. Looks like the setup for me will be jumping 2 2000 generators together.
So here's the debate...

I know Honda is the gold standard, but Yamaha is a little cheaper and seems to be increasing in popularity. Hyundai's are WAY cheaper, but Ive never heard of anyone owning one.

My priority list is as follows in order: Quiet, reliable, efficient.

Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken :h

I have a 3000 Honda mounted and enclosed in my truck bed with remote start. I was tempted to buy a Yamaha with the boost but there are far more dealers for Honda than Yamaha.

Will you need the dealer? Doubtful for either brand but I have owned Honda dirt bikes, rototillers and lawnmowers and they are excellent products. We serviced all brands at a John Deere dealership and Yamahas were rare and it took a little longer to get parts for them for some reason. Cant say that's Yamahas fault.

A local little league had a dozen or so old small Yamahas for their score boards. They looked like they were thrown in a cart then rolled down a hill. They brought them in every spring and I would patch them up but seldom had actual engine/gen problems.

You wont go wrong with either one. To me the problem was that I didn't want to get 2 generators out and connect. If I had to run them all night they would be susceptible to theft so I went with hard mounted and metal enclosure with an axial fan and remote start. Everyone has different ways to deal with it but both are excellent products.

The standard response is what is your favorite color...red or blue?

There isn't much difference.

Haven't seen any Hyundai units. Champions have become fairly common but not sure how they are for reliability.

From the Amazon reviews the Hyundai seems to have some problems. Although I paid through the nose for it, I really like my Yamaha.

Honda was the first to market the inverter generators.. What is amazing is how well their original design has held up. No one has really beat them yet.

The Honda is the only one that uses a fuel pump. This can be an advantage if you want to use a extended run tank setup. It makes for a much more reliable setup.
The yamahas have a manual fuel shutoff, so you can run it dry.. This can be installed on the Hondas though, if wanted/needed.

I've had both Honda and Yamaha generators. In my opinion the Yamaha was actually the better of the two but my current generator is a Honda and I cannot complain. If I were looking for a new one I would look seriously at the Yamaha.

No Around here it's Honda, Yamaha, Champion.

Champion has quite the following and their 2000w cube can run in parallel with another and pretty popular.

I think I would list it as quiet, light, reliable and then efficient.

Honda fits the bill for me, a pair of 47 pound 2 KW generators will pair up and work fine.

You need a better deal on the price though. Mayberrys.com
