How many hours on your Champion generator?

I wanted to see how many hours people have on their Champion Power Equipment generators.
I own 2 Champions, a 2000w inverter and a 3500/400 conventional, and they seem to be holding up great.

Looking to see who has high hours on theirs and how the reliability has been.

They obviously last a long time and the cost versus longevity ratio is much better than a Honda. I'm happy with that.

170 hrs on my 2 yr old 3100 and 6 hours on the 2000. One Youtube guy said he could tell when the valves needed adjusting. Anyone know what the indications would be?

What the local A-Z rental place rents as well as the Hertz equipment rental one town over... Only Champion but maybe Champion cuts them a deal, who knows. Don't seem to be any 'deals' on Honda or Yamaha that I can see.

I suspect you are correct on infrequent use. Like a motor home and no mileage but falling apart anyway.:p

There are tool rental companies that tell of logging (with hour meters) thousands and thousands of hours on Champion generators. I suspect more generators fail from lack of use instead of over-usage.

5 minute job at best and I owned (and sold) a Yamaha for years. It too was a 5 minute job. I only sold it because of it's age. Was 12 years old with many hours and like all things electronic, I figured it was getting toward the end of it's trouble free lifespan. Any engine with solid lifters will require a valve adjustment at some time, not just a Champion.

I just did my Kohler K241 cast iron single cylinder on my portable welder and on it you have to basically pull the entire intake side of the engine to do a valve adjustment. Very involved.
