This past Friday my fridge bit the dirt. The cooling unit started leaking. So Saturday i have no lights on the control panel and the light inside the fridge isn't working. I had planed on changing the cooling unit but why isn't any power going to the unit? The fuses are good and there is 110 to the plug. So does anyone know why?

Guys, I must be missing something. The OP says she SAW evidence of ammonia leak. How the hell is changing fuses or CB going to help?

READ her post again:B She stated that she was going to replace the cooling unit, but she was worried because she had NO power to the refer controls and she did not want to possibly spend money on a cooling unit if she had other expensive problems. Doug

If it is indeed leaking Ammonia, the cooling unit is toast.

These were added as part of the recall, and are now standard equipment. They simply interrupt the 12 volt power to the fridge. The one on the cooling unit is just a simple disc type limit switch, the other is a thermal fuse enclosed in tubing. Refrigerator fires due to leaking had 2 main causes- either they were running on LP and the refrigerant ignited, or they were running on electric and simply got hot enough to ignite surrounding materials.

It's on the cooling unit- you will get a new one with a replacement unit. The 12 volt power goes from the terminal block to the 2 thermal fuses (one on the cooling unit for overheat, one flame fuse next to the burner), then to the circuit board.
The one on the cooling unit usually has a reset button.

Chris, I wasn't aware of these fuses.

So are these in addition to the 2 on the circuit board?

I never looked for external fuses or circuit breaker outside the board.

Can you tell us exactly what these 2 fuses do? That is what do they interrupt to stop the fridge?

Does the flame fuse stop the flame?

The thermal fuse on the cooling unit has tripped- like it is supposed to.

So that's what it is. Is there any way to check that?

Did it have the recall done? If so then it may have tripped the hi-temp sensor circuit they added.

You may have a blown fuse on the control board. Under that black plastic cover on the left (as you look from the back, outside) is the control board with 3 fuses: 35 amp, 3 amp, and 5 amp.

No they were all good.

Jody, do you mean the refrig was leaking water OR you saw/detected ammonia leakage?

Yes it was leaking yellow looking stuff and ammonia.
