Does anyone know why this may be happening? I have a low voltage reading on the converter of 11.92. I removed the converter from the box cleaned. Fan not running. Voltage went up to 14.25 , re installed converter and voltage slowly going back down to 11.92 and fan still won't run.
Wotta shame you could have tested it correctly on the bench. Discharge the battery somewhat put battery on bench, disconnect converter put on bench then connect to battery. You'd know watching the voltage exactly what is or isn't going on. A bad battery sucking up all the power of a good converter will make outside smell like Yellowstone National Park.
CONverters do get weak over time. Mine started the dance you're experiencing now. My original was Mag-na-tek....which is now Parallax. Bought my 55 AMP Parallax unit on the 'net for $209. Easy quick install. I was amazed at how much they've changed in 14 years. The old one was BIG and HEAVY. The new one...small and very light. I secured it to the "deck" with velcro. That's how light it is.

Dead battery loading it down? Disconnect it, then you'll know.

To properly test converter DC output it should be isolated from battery either by disconnecting battery cables at converter terminals or at battery
Also check each battery cell specific gravity with hydrometer

Check right at the converter terminals to see what the voltage is there. If it is high there, then check your output terminals, particularly the negative line back to the battery. My battery was going dead because I had a loose negative return to the battery in the terminal strip.
