If you have a grill that you use the one pound bottle with. When you convert it to use a portable hose from your 30 lb tank how do you regulate the heat, because you have to remove the regulater because that is the part the bottle screws into

The regulator on my Weber 2000 grill wasn't working so I modified it. I got a 5' hose w/ regulator to connect a 20# propane bottle to the grill, after removing the Weber's regulator.

The hose screws into the same port that the bottle does.

There are a lot of different connections, adapters, and hoses available for propane tanks and grills. It is possible you just haven't found the correct adapter. If your local hardware store sells propane grills, they may have some different adapters you can look at.

unregulated propane from a container just requires the proper hose, no need to remove the reg.

To connect to regulated low pressure propane, some grills need a new valve like this http://www.camco.net/product/lp-gas-control-valve-wquick-connect-10654/

each grill is somewhat different in how to converter from container pressure to regulated low pressure.

The regulator and volume valve are two different things on my Coleman grill.
