Perhaps if you want a real "Made in America" generator you should consider a Briggs and Stratton. A well established AMERICAN company that builds everything right here in the good old USA with American labor. Or, perhaps your old marque, Onan? Their Homesite models appear to be quality American generators - I am sure it is just coincidental that they look like the rest of the Chinese imports. Of course, DuroPower must be helping the American economy tremendously with their mail order clearing house in California? Or perhaps we should just limit our purchases to big box stores like Lowe's, Wal-Mart and Home Depot? Now, those are fine American institutions that believe in the phrase "Made in America".
It is best to not become victim to the old adage my Mom used to quote to me, "Be careful that you do not overlook the trees when looking at the forest."

there's a new competitor with Champion, Lifan. there's a thread, in the General RV forum, about their new lineup of electric-start, parallel-capable inverter generators, being sold thru Home Depot.
they look like the Magna brand i've seen on Ebay.
even the 2200w one has electric start and a pull-out handle and wheels.

"Tony F" is/was a "newbie". You got caught-up in it.
He can't help being a newbie - but when he posted on the 3000w Gensets thread, he was "out of the loop" - he had not "back-tracked" on the thread far enough to learn the "history" of Champion, where *ALL* the component parts come from, etc.

Buy: "manufactured in the USA" -
with a majority of "things", you can try - but there's only 2 real possibilities - slim & none.

Not sure what Floyd's agenda is, we shall see.

Pritch272, you were to first to post on this thread. I never thought about an agenda when I gave a response to Tony F aka AZtraveler? when he brought to our attention a statement on the Tech page of Championpowerequipment.com (CPE) "We are an American Company owning our own factory in China" Also showing the vary large building with the Champion name. So here is the deal. Before buying the Champion C46540 I wanted to get as close to good ol' America as possible. I found my way to RV.NET Tech issues and 3000w Chinese Genset info' At that time Champion was the rage and remains the same. Then came the sourse to buy. 'partsamerica.com I placed my order. The rest is history. Then questions developed that caused my doubt of just how close to good ol' Anerica did I get by buying the Champion genset. How many Americans did I help support? Then the story became larger when we heard from the CEO of CPE. Like I was helping 10,000 folks in their own 'Service network' ~ So if Champion sent 10,000 gensets for service work with one hour labor to each man in a year? Well do the math. What I do know from reports, most repair issues are done on a DIY basis with parts being sent to the owners. Well and good. But why this big American owned factory in China story, I bought into? If there was any agenda on my part, it was, I love America the beautiful, after world travel it is ever stronger. And I have been in China.
