My DH is trying to wire his hay trailer for brakes & lights & will be pulling with truck we pull RV with. On e-traler website it looks like to him that they (RV & hay trailer) are wired differently. Can anyone help?

That is the one for utility, horse and large utility trailers. Op wants to make them all the same.

I will differ with enblethen just a little here....
Our family has been towing all manner of trailers for at least 50 years. Because it was the standard then, we always use an SAE-J560b set. On E-trailer this all the way at the bottom of the page and it is the only one that is an accepted international standard. They label it as heavy duty truck. It is what I have in my coach and I carry a spare plug and some pig tails in case I have to two something else.

OP needs the standard for RVs. Then get an RV trailer blade connector. Standard for utility type trailers use round pins and different pin configuration.

Print off a copy of the standard (bargman) wiring schematic from the internet. It has been the RV industry standard for probably 50 years. Wire all your unility type trailers per the diagram and youll be good to go

I would call or chat with the etrailer people about this. It is difficult to answer the question here because we don't know the kind of truck, trailer, brake system, etc. you are talking about.

Yes, they are wired differently.
There is no reason, he cannot wire the utility (hay) trailer the same way as you RV.
