Water filter option other than Camco???

So for many years we have been using the exterior Camco water filters, commonly available at Walmart, Camping World, Amazon, etc. The last year or so we have noticed they are not very effective at removing or reducing the chlorine taste from some campground water supplies.

I am looking for recommendations for something better to use. (Just the outside filter options please.)

I like chlorine - in my tank and pipes. I use a whole house sediment filter outside and then a charcoal filter at the sink. That way the chlorine is removed just before consumption.

As I recall those Camco filters are charcoal based and should remove chlorine as well as any of the expensive filters - but they need to be replaced on regular basis.

I looked at these after reading your post and then did a little research. I read that they are a direct replacement for the Camco TastePURE 40045 filter. The advantage is they are cheaper than the Camco version but are they really any better?

The last thing I would want to do is to remove the chlorine from my RV water system. All sorts of nasties can grow. You can count on pseudomonas which is relatively harmless, but who needs the slime and bacteria? You could end up with something seriously harmful such as Legionella's. For drinking water, I recommend something like a Brita filter. Even then I clean out and bleach the container every few weeks at the longest.

We use a whole house filter housing with garden hose fittings. For maximum chlorine taste removal, we use Aqua Pure AP117 activated charcoal filters that are rated for 10,000 gallons.

One like this can work well filter
But you dont want to filter all your water through it. We used these for a pet shop, they worked well but have a very slow flow rate. Using your shower with one on a city water connection would not work well, but putting one in line on your kitchen sink, and using the camco on the hose for the rest of the camper would work well.
