Whew, twenty or so emails and personal messages this last week alone. Look at the map below. See the Baja Peninsula. Go halfway down the left side. See Morro Redondo? Go inland a quarter inch or so, at that is my "Medical Hangout". Get to the states later on for Surgery.

My home is on the mainland. Trace down the Pacific Coast of mainland Mexico. I live halfway between two cities. Manzanillo and Acapulco on the Pacific coast.

Now follow down to the next country. Guatemala. See the tiny blue lake image? That's where I'll be spending summers.

Not exactly Times Square or San Fernando Valley.

Bet that BUSboy had a heck of a time moving that platter. In Mexico a big-rig including the tractor is referred to as a "Traylor". If a tourist asks for a camion it means el autobus. It gets real fun in southern Mexico and Guatemala where a lot of folks don"t speak Spanish.

ยฟCan you direct me please to the adobe hut that sells low ESR Panasonic capacitors?

Los Bomberos donan el camion de bomberos a San Lucas, Guatemala:

When you travel to Guatemala City (if you pass through San Lucas), see if the completely refurbished Crown Firecoach (Fire Engine) we donated (1998) to San Lucas is still there.

San Lucas is about 40 mi from Guat City.

The former was a cooperative effort/s by many So. CA FD folks and business, and flown (on a C-17) to Guat City in Dec of 1998.

Another was previously donated to Puerto Barrios in Jan 1988, along with radio equipment, etc. It went by ship.

Although weather is mild in Puerto Barrios (houses have screens only),
an unusual cold snap caught everybody -including residents- by surprise w/o any cold weather clothes.

More Ingles/Espanol (humor):
The Gringos that spent a couple of weeks in Puerto Barrios enhanced whatever bi-lingual abilities they had, by learning the Spanish word (after lots of sign language and gestures) for "Kaopectate" at the local Pharmacia, as well as the Spanish word for "Watchman" which evolved from security jobs during the sugar plantation days.

.

.

Kaopectate. Translation = Cow-peck-ta-tae....:S..:S

Watchman: Translation, none = Watcheemon...;)

Then there was the "genuine" Spanish speaker (LOL) who asked for.....
"Un plato de *camiones*, por favor"...:R

Gee, and I thought you were going to say you were in the town of UTTER in the state of CONFUSION.

(You know I can think of a just perfect political comment to make here.. but I won't.)

Good luck with your surgery. There are some very fine hopitals just a little ways over the line into the USA... In fact. (I'm not sure since I was kind of young at the time) I may have visited one of 'em.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Lake NICARAGUA is the lake with the freshwater sharks. And northern Nicaragua is the coolest part of the country and it is anything but cool especially in summer. Teguchigalpa, the capitol swelters. It is not high elevation. Jesรบs, told me last night Las Pe?as finally managed to cool off. It was a pizza oven when I was there a couple of weeks ago. I do not being trapped "inside" either by heat or cold. I will move. All this is the reason I have a phobia about STUFF THAT DOES NOT BREAK. Look for a controller, or cyclable battery and you might as well be looking for a nozzle deflector for a Saturn V rocket. Six years on an RV battery is not good enough I want to spend ten seconds a day and have it last 10-years. Put the rig up on a ramp and paint the tires with silicone lube once a year. Now perhaps you can better understand an upcoming post of mine about replacing the capacitors in my WhiffCo BEFORE THEY FAIL.

I'm thinking of you Mex, and hoping everything goes very well, medically.

I like hearing about your summertime location!

When I was in La Paz a couple of years ago I stayed at a B&B during mid November. The lady owner had just gotten back from I believe Guatemala. During the summers she goes there, way up in the mountains to some lake that I believe she said is around 7,000'. Said it was a lot cooler up there than spending the summer in La Paz. She would get free room and board for working the summer at a school / orphanage. She said it was the only lake in the world that had fresh water sharks.

3 more days after today of 100F temps. Oregon coast sounds good right about now, but there's tons of fires burning in Northern California right now, lots of smoke.

July temps in Santiago. 78 days / 70 night

Humidity 50% day,70% at night

Las Peรฑas winter day 85 night 77

Santiago, Hotel 11 dollars a day 130 dollars a month.

Las Pe?as is the summer is hot and humid. Santiago is at 5,300 ft altitude. Altitude is the key. Today Toluca Mexico reached a scorching high temp of 67F altitude 9,000 ft. But it snows in the winter, So it does at Creel Chihuahua on the rim of the Copper Canyon.

Guat City pop 5,000,000 is only a 4 hour drive. Burger Queen, Kentucky Fried Rat. My refrigerator is full of tamales, cebiche, tortillas, bolillos, yellowtail, shrimp, lobster. Haven't spoke a word of ingles in months. Using the internet tones up my gringo communications. But now when I espeak ingles I make a fool of myself structuring sentences and pronunciations.

The USA makes me nervous now. My trips are strictly limited to 2 days then I dart back across the border.

why go from HOT to Steamy in the summer
or is the reverse ?

your all ready on the coast, the further south you go the hotter it gets

shouldn't you be going south in the winter ?

BTW its triple digits here SFV and expected to stay that way for at least thru the begining of the week
I can explain it to you.
