Where to Find a Quality Set of Precision/Mini Screwdrivers?

Hello, friends,

Like the topic says, I find myself in need of miniature screwdrivers more and more often, and sometimes the $3.99-a-set Harbor Freight ones make it hard to do precision work. Where would I find a decent set that would not chew up the screws I am working on? I don't need an extensive set, just a few very small flat and Phillips sizes. Thanks very much!

Thanks very much, everyone, for taking the time to reply; I really do appreciate it! It looks like the Wiha tools are a good compromise between quality and my budget. I will give them a close look, but will check out the other options too.

Thanks again, safe travels!

jwmll,

I have been infatuated with both those brands for a half century. Unfortunately I believe neither offer other than measurement hand tools any more. I have some B&S tungsten drills that outperform anything else I have ever used. Boy are those drills heavy!

Locate a precision tool supplier and get a set of Starrett. Also checkout Brown and Sharpe. Both if they still have them might be a little pricey but you will never need to buy them again.

Wiha also sells driver screwdriver tips for battery or corded tools. Truly improved bit life. Their diamond coated tips really help to reduce cam-out (stripping of the head)

A BAD TECHNICIAN BLAMES HIS TOOLS

I must be terrible. I ended up choosing Wiha which I consider to be the best quality small size screwdriver in the world. Missing in the set, below, is 000 Phillips which is all-too-common these days.

Wiha is made in Germany and the tips last longer than anything else I have ever used.

FLUSH CUTTERS. Good to 16 gauge but really designed for board work. These Hakko flush cutters are about the best I have ever used. Don't let the low price fool you, these critters run circles around Klein cutters that sell for much more.

The little blue Kobalt set sold at Lowes is great. Interchangeable tips all store in the handle. Good quality tips that will grip the screw well and not get chewed up. Under $10.
