Windshield replacement

We are sitting in ST. Augustine, Fl with a shattered windshield on our class A MH. They are shipping a new one to arrive Tuesday. We have to drive to the glass co for installation unfortunately. For those of you who have had yours replaced, what is the wait time (curing time) for driving the MH after installation? Is it a matter of a few hrs or a day or 2? Thanks for your input.

The windshield installers told me to keep at least one window open one inch or more for two days, so that when a door is closed there is not an air pressure build up, that would push out on the windshield. Also try to avoid fast stops.

That was on two different cars. I don't know what kind of sealant they used.

Just had both replaced 2 weeks ago. They wanted 48hours to set before movement since it was Urethane sealant. You also don't mention what RV you have. Some, like Winnebago had rust issues that caused them to crack. The guys that do RV glass know this and do allot of rust remediation while things are opened up

Wow, a variety of situations. Guess we'll have to wait and see what our instructions are on Tuesday. Thank you.

I had one side replaced at Duncan Glass in IN. After installed they had me sit in their lot for a couple hours before leaving.

1. Urethaned in has to cure. 1-2 days
2. Gasket set - install and drive away.
That simple.

Watched next door neighbor get his windshield replaced at the campsite last March in Cleremont, Fl. I believe it was mobile RV glass that did it, whole process took about an hour. Very impressive work by a single worker, obivously very experienced. Interesting to watch and the guy gladly answered questions, but I realized this is a job best left to professionals.

My Monaco, one piece windshield, had no wait time. They installed it, I brought it home. It did not have any glue to hold it in place, just the rubber moldings.

Another I motor home which needed the windshield taken out and reset, was about 24 hours.

Safelite installed ours, suggested a 48 hour cure time.
