Carbon ceramic pads question

Hey all

Just ordered Power Stop carbon fiber ceramic severe duty truck& tow pads for my 2014 Ram 3500 CC LB dually. Most of the driving in that truck is towing out 14k lb. FW. My question, is it okay to use carbon fiber Ceramic pads with the stock rotors?

He is ahead $ by far for one reason, curiosity is another reason. Fact is he knows his engine is in good condition running these extended miles having a quality report to back it up. First long mileage was by accident. I really was cringing at what that test report was going to find.

I am NOT saying AMZ/OIL is better than other oils but I guarantee they are better than most. FYI they started the Synthetic Oil craze in the 70's. PenZoil was so threatened by them that the took AMZ/OIL to court over the "Z" and so the "S" now looks like a "Z" backwards.

If this sample comes back good to go then he can just change it at that mileage from now on. FYI he is a Landscape contractor and his truck gets driven 50 miles each way during the week pulling the landscape trailer so it's light duty for that engine.

A lot of variables at play for brake pad life. I normally get ~120k miles on Motorcraft brake pads. I tow a 22ft boat quite often and a utility trailer with Deere tractor/shredder once in a while with both of them not having trailer brakes so that adds additional wear on the truck brake pads.

If being last in line in the brake life BS contest is the minority I'll wear that badge proudly. These guys that get 200K+ miles out of factory OEM pads are freaks of physics or something. They must be the guys that start stopping 1/2 a mile before the stop sign and coast for that 1/2 mile at 6 mph while 40 cars stack up behind them or drive 50 on the interstate when traffic is moving at 85 mph. Hard to believe the aftermarket brake parts companies like Raybestos and such stay in business ROFLMAO.

I am a low mileage guy oil change ,once a year now, along with fuel filters etc . As far as how far someone can go with any good quality oil ,it would probably match whatever AMZ/OIL will go .

I used to have a bypass oil filter on my 99, 7.3 and would go about 35000 miles between oil changes. The reason I did this was I used my truck to drive to work as well as pulling my 5th wheel and trailer before that. I would put approximately 30000 miles a year on it, so with the filter and oil sample analyzing to establish my new milage I could run before the oil needed changing (it ended up being much higher than 35K) it saved me about 800 a year in oil changes. The cool thing is at 35K the oil still looked clean. I switched to royal purple full synthetic. Now in my 6.7 it tells me when to change the oil, anywhere between 10 and 14K km depending on what the computer sees the truck doing, so I just go by that and run Rotella T6. I amso have a beater car for going to work now so the oil changes are not anywhere near as frequent.

Amsoil has been pushing the same claims for over 30 years and I have yet to see why they are better than any other.

Where's that API label 12V? Yeah... Another long story!

Not worth the cost.

How about my friends 13 RAM went 23 0r 24k and Blackstone said to go 1 or 2 k longer next time. He is at 28k now and I will show report when I get it if anyone is interested.

Not interested in the report ,but do have to wonder what is the point of pushing oil to that many miles , even going thru the hassle of getting an oil sample , getting it sent in , waiting for results etc etc .I know this subject has been beat to death , but it escapes me what is the reasoning. Only thing I could possibly think of is the health of the motor thru testing , IF something is suspected . Why not just 15K like Ram recommends , or reasonable amount of time like I do ?

My goodness. I started this thread to find out if using carbon fiber ceramic pads are compatible with stock rotors. I never, in a million years, thought that it would cause the same stir as Ford v. Chevy v. Ram. Lol

imma going to finish reading this thread as soon as I get back from pulling my 43' fiver with my Rivian with semi metallic pads and Anderson hitch...
